The slightly too early trade deadline thread
The slightly too early trade deadline thread
Deadline is almost two months away but Jerry might feel the pressure and desperation to bust a move for a bat early like he did with Santana last season.

Re: The slightly too early trade deadline thread
THIS is why FA is superior to trades even though Jerry says they aren't. Going to have to give up a SP that just had a historically good start to his career to get a good bat.
The big question for the Seattle Mariners
The M’s clearly have a decision to make about how aggressive they’re going to be on the trade market in order to stay competitive in an American League playoff race that appears much tougher than it was a year ago. Morosi has little doubt about Dipoto’s willingness in that regard.
“This is where the Mariners have to figure out how motivated they are to get that that additional bat,” he said. “How much pitching are you probably going to be willing to give up to do it? And are you comfortable giving up someone off your major league roster? Probably not. But you can bet that when the phone rings, the name Bryce Miller is going to be mentioned by a lot of people.”
Miller, a 24-year-old rookie for the Mariners, has been a sensation in his six starts in the big leagues to date, owning a 3.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and a ratio of 10.33 strikeouts per every walk issued.

Trade Geno and Teo. And any of the relievers besides Munoz and Brash (would be selling low imo) are fair game.

Might be able to trade the first two to a contender in a hitter's park but wouldn't get much for them. Maybe a prospect ranked in that 20s for the other team. Might have to pay some salary as well.

Re: The slightly too early trade deadline thread
Get anything for them, add to the prospect pool. Give guys like Scheiner, Ford, DeLoach, Campbell, etc a chance. Sign some guys in the off-season. Don’t trade all your prospects to fill gaps and fight for a playoff chance you are unlikely to make and even less likely to do anything with.
I’m just fucking posed at the whole thing. They completely fucked up the window by not adding legitimate bats. They ducked up the rebuild by holding onto guys like Marco and Haniger when they had value. It’s the exact fucking scenario I didn’t want to see when they traded for Castillo.

The window has hardly even opened yet. Other than Marco, the guys posters are pissed about are on one year contracts. They still have plenty of talent coming through the pipeline. One can complain about them not spending in the off season but I don't see it as wasting a window.
Re: The slightly too early trade deadline thread
The real question in regard to the off season Fubar is: Was it Jerry was it ownership? Somebody needs to be hung by their nads from the ceiling with piano wire.

I’m not pissed about those guys, I’m pissed they are trying to full holes with incredibly flawed 1 year guys that actually getting good baseball players. Mariners are going to trade those guys coming through the pipeline for more flawed players in 1 year contracts that don’t put them over the edge and be in the exact same spot next year because they don’t do shit in FA.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 5:46 pmThe window has hardly even opened yet. The window would be wide open had they signed just 2 players that are above average hitters instead of getting guys like Pollock, Wong, Frazier, etc. They chose not to open the window by being cheap.
