Seems like a pretty good depth trade.
A year or two of Gott and Flexen already DFA'd for a guy who looks like a Marco Gonzales +/-

Maybe they can fix him, they do wonders with relievers if not oh well we got nothing for nothing so fair trade

Muckenhirn is basically a younger Tommy Milone.
Supposedly he has 3 options left so part of the M's motivation was to clear up 2x roster spots to potentially make more trades.

Yes, literally every move they make is primarily driven by financial considerations. Mets basically paid us $4M for Gott.

How is he Milone. He is a reliever.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, the mets plan to DFA Flexen.
Since Flexen was already DFAed a few days ago, his trade doesn't save a 40 man roster spot, in case you're wondering.
