I honestly think this is the first substantive interview I have EVER seen with the greatest player of this generation. He made a great 1st impression.

That was great.

Good reminder that A) they are people, and B) even the best players fall apart fast after 30yo in the post-PED era.

Sadly he started breaking down in his mid 20s after the 2016 season. Has only played in 678 of 1026 games. 2/3

Already at 85 WAR and a lock for 1st ballot HOFer but what could of been....

2nd greatest player of this time, maybe!
His teammate is the greatest of the last few years!
In fact the last few years he didn't even come in #2 because he couldn't stay on the field.

Shohei is 29 yo and has 34 WAR vs. Trout with 85 WAR at 32. Ohtani has a LONG way to go to catch him and never will if he can't pitch at a high level again.

That's over his whole career but what is the comparison in the last three years? Trout 11.4 Ohtani 15.4.
Is Trout breaking down? Possibly but Ohtani is the better player since COVID.

I don't think that includes his pitching war?

Certainly Trout was the best player in the game for the 2010-19. And one of the best to play the game in any decade.
But Ohtani has become the Big Dog recently and there are several others that may be knocking on the door of lasting superstar fame like Acuna to name just one.
It's an amazing time to be a baseball fan.
