Lou had a good playing career and was on some WS champion teams with the Yankees as well....

Lou was the best we ever had but I honestly don't think he is quite a HOF level manager. His winning percentage was 54% with the M's but it just was .517 overall (127th all time). 1 World Series in 23 years finished 5th place 5 times. Good manager but not an all time great. He got run out of NY in 3 years. Won a World Series in his first year in Cinci with Pete Rose's team after he got banned and then was out of there 2 years later. He was absolutely dreadful in Tampa Bay and then was very underwhelming working with one of the biggest payrolls in the game in Chicago.

I don't think it is just for manager. He made his MLB debut in 1964 and retired as manager 46 years later in 2010. He hit .330 with a .876 OPS on the 1977 WS team and was on the 1978 team as well. I think he deserves to be in for total impact on MLB.

Leyland was 1769-1728 a .506 WP with one WS title and 6 1st place finishes.

Lou was 1835-1713 a .517 WP with one WS title and 7 1st place finishes. Also had tied the record for wins in a season and had a good career as a player.

Fucking Joke.
