Being #2 is not good enough for the Mariners organization. They strive to be #1 in every aspect of the business.

Oh, wait ...

That's pretty frustrating. Their stupid investments in restaurants and TV channels must be the only reason they can't spend on players.

Have to pay the flaming Trident juggler and the jokers that dress up in the Salmon costumes and those costumes can't be cheap. Maybe they force the unpaid interns to get in them though.

It's early, but there have been 18 teams with home games so far, and we are 10th in average attendance.

Doesn't matter much when your payroll is cheap and people buy up the amenities the park has to offer hand over first while they're there.

The M's are now dead last in baseball in team OPS. A mere 350 points behind the league-leading Braves.

Even with Red Sox Nation being in town over the weekend we are down 17k from last season. After Yesterday's shit show I am guessing the next Home stand will be down as well.

And their response will be to shed more payroll and field a worse team. Eventually payroll will drop below $50 mil and they will focus entirely on concessions and scoreboard enhancements in order to provide the best experience for fans that don't give a shit about the actual game. And they'll still make a nice profit.
