Well isn't this pretty much how last season went? A shitty first six weeks
Last season after 16 games they were .500 with 74 Runs scored and 66 runs allowed. This season they are 6-10 with 49 runs scored and 72 Runs allowed.

Perhaps they they should just tear down T-Mobile park and build another domed stadium.

Yes, this start is epically awful. It's just embarrassing. Their starting pitching - widely considered the best in the majors heading into 2024 - is scuffling. Our "ace" and bullpen are shadows of their former selves. And their "offense" is gobsmackingly impotent.

It's not just that they aren't hitting homers. It's not just former ROY and lauded phenom Julio Rodriguez is batting .186 and is good for -0.4 WAR. They are making base running blunders (including Julio being tagged leading off 1B to end the game yesterday). They are the THIRD WORST TEAM in baseball, offensively (a whopping team average of .204). And how many times do we have to have RISP only to walk away empty handed??? (I'm looking at you, Double Play Ty)

You know where we sit at the top of the rankings? Strikeouts. Per the Seattle Times, the M's struck out an average of 10.6 times per game this season following the series with the Jays. It's early, of course. But they go on to say "If you pace out the M’s 10.62 strikeouts per game over a full 162-game season, that equates to 1,719.7 strikeouts, which would break an MLB record." So yeah. We have that to look forward to.

Fire Scotty now. Seriously. Replace him with ChapGPT. At least an iPad with an internet connection to artificial intelligence would have intelligence. And likely have a wider range of emotion.

OK - I'm going to reply to myself here, but we should not necessarily subscribe to the "abandon all hope, ye who enter" philosophy with JRod...yet, at least.

Francisco Lindor, one of baseball's best shortstops, is off to a terrible start, batting a paltry .129

This article argues that while this is one of his worst slumps, it's not his only, and it is not unprecedented. And they argue that Mets fans - and Lindor fans - should not be concerned. He's got talent, and he'll start hitting again, soon. So, too, shall JRod. I hope!

The first month of Mariners baseball in the 2023 season is complete.

The club entered the spring with high expectations after ending its two-decade postseason drought last fall but has had a back-and-forth start the first five weeks of the season.

Seattle sits at 12-16 and in fourth place in the American League West, behind the Rangers, Astros and Angels.

Last season? It has now been 5 seasons in a row. Inexcusable.

Yeah it could be, my point was they seemed sensitive to last seasons start. Talked about doing things differently this season but here we are again

“Yes, I do look at it differently,” Servais said Saturday morning in Peoria.”I’ve talked about where are we at after 40 games. It takes 40 games to kind of situate your team, your bullpen. That will never change in my thinking. But in the past, in April, it may be a younger player and here comes a matchup that is really hard for this younger player. What I’m trying to do is instill confidence in this guy. I’m going to let him have this at-bat or I’m going to let (a pitcher) face this particular hitter, even though it may not be the best thing for the team in that moment. I know it could pay dividends for us down the road.

“I don’t want to get totally away from that, but maybe have a little bit shorter leash on how often I do that.”
