If you think Ichiro should be a first ballot HOFer but not Unanimous then you think some voters should disagree with you. How does that make sense?

Not everyone is always going to agree, and it almost never happens. The fact that Griffey wasn't first ballot is a joke, but baseball writers are dipshits. This is a strange question because if there has only ever been one first ballot Hall of Famer in history? How the Hell would Ichiro qualify?

So, I don't disagree with the question as you do. He isn't asking "do you think he belongs", he is asking "do you think EVERYONE thinks he belongs". My answer to the first question is yes, but the second on is no.

I feel that was more of an old school way of thinking and those guys have mostly cycled out of the voting ranks. I think you will see a lot of guys being unanimous moving forward.

Three HOF voters didn't vote for Ken Griffey Jr on that first ballot, why?

Yes, this guy asked that way. Good point.

But I have seen it asked the other way. Do you think he should be unanimous. That is what I was referring to. I guess I glossed over the way he asked which was a reasonable question.

Griffey had a great career but like Ichiro he didn't put up much WAR the second half of his career. A lot of HOF OFer have over 100 WAR or at least close to it. He had 83.8 bWAR but that was barely half of what Bonds ended up with. He is 37th all time and Trout has already passed him.

So does that mean he doesn't belong in the HOF?

Of course not but it isn't surprising there were 3 loons out there that didn't think he was a 1st ballot HOFer. There and are dozens of guys with over 100 WAR that weren't either.

Sure, but doesn't that answer your question? You can prioritize your ballot. Jr is a HOFer but I'll wait for another ballot to vote for him
