I was kinda wishing we gave Hint a try and sent Seby packing

He seems decent.

Throws 97... good slider. 70 innings last year with a good ERA.

I guess it makes some sense.

Not the splash I was looking for but oh well.

Nobody has ever accused them of making intelligent decisions.

They must have been really down on Hunt for some reason that isn't apparent in his batting line at Tacoma. Maybe he's a butcher behind the plate?

I wouldn’t be surprised that when we add a bat we jettison Zavala and take our chances with Garver

They'd be spending$24 mil over two seasons for a backup catcher, I'd be surprised

Baumann sucks. His career WHIP is 1.437 which is awful. You guys need to learn to look at that stat instead of ERA for relief pitchers, which is highly dependent on other relief pitchers.

There's some potential if you look at his pitch data. Like a lot of relievers he walks too many guys. He was mostly a starter in the minors and so he has a four pitch repertoire (4-seam FB, Slider, Knuckle Curve, and Change). By pitch data his breaking pitches and changeup are his most effective offerings. His fastball is thrown plenty hard, but I'm guessing there have been too many meatballs over the plate. Maybe the Mariners will have him just not throw it?

Anyway, I wouldn't write the guy off at this point. To me, he looks like a very sort of middle of the pack reliever with some potential to be a little bit better than that.
