I agree with most. Houston would demand a lot more trading to a rival in its own division.

If Juan Soto fetched what he got to go to the Yankees this year...

I imagine it would take something similar, probably more considering he's an Astro... I'm not sure why MLBTV has devalued him so much.

I don't think a deal for Tucker gets done unless it's one of either Miller or Woo + one of our top 3 prospects, plus a couple arms 10-20.

I'd say it's Woo + Ford + 2 more.

And yes, I realize MLBTV would call that an overpay. At the end of May they had him at $56.5 million which is about what Soto sold for in that Yankees deal. Difference is, you'd get Tucker for a playoff push and another year...

But they have to know Jerry isn't going to send them a King's ransom in prospects only to have them beat the shit out of us from 2026-30.

I don't know if they would take Bryan Woo considering the health questions.

I wonder what the trade simulator would say about Miller for Tucker straight up? You're essentially trading 5+ years of control in Miller for 1 1/2 years of Tucker. I don't think DiPoto would do that but I wonder what the relative values are.

I think Woo is the arm from the rotation they'd be most willing to move.

I don't think you'd get Tucker straight up for either. It's a in division trade for a guy on pace to post 6 fWAR.

They bought Castillo for 2x top 100 prospects with the same control. Castillo wasn't as valuable as Tucker is.

Relative values are in the same ballpark with the edge going to Miller. That's about what I thought it would be.

Yeah I just don't see that getting it done.

There's no way Tucker's value is that low given the Soto trades over the past few years.

I’m not sure the Asstros think they are out of it. They have had a string on injuries, their bullpen blows chunks, and their DH was batting a laughable .124 before they cut him loose. They still have a solid core of players, and some decent starting pitching. I don’t see them being sellers at the deadline, especially for Tucker, if they see themselves clawing back into contention.

If they get healthy, and they trade for a solid DH and a bullpen arm or two, they could easily start winning again.

Stranger things have happened: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the- ... rally/amp/

What’s more, unless we also trade for a stud starter to replace Miller, I wouldn’t want to weaken our rotation by trading away Miller, Woo et al.
