He seems to have lost his focus and passion for the game, or is unable to handle the pressure of expectations that come with being labelled a superstar and given a huge contract so early in his career.

Why the rush? Was it after 1 year?
Dip is crazed.

He seems cooked for this season. Will find out next season if this season was an aberration.

The contract didnt seem to bother him last season so why this one? Hes making $12 mil this year. The big payday wont kick in if he sucks, the mariners wont pick up the optionsHy Feiber wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 1:21 pmI agree.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:34 amHe seems to have lost his focus and passion for the game, or is unable to handle the pressure of expectations that come with being labelled a superstar and given a huge contract so early in his career.

Of course he is. He's just an employee working for the man, like the rest of us!Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:34 amHe seems to have lost his focus and passion for the game, or is unable to handle the pressure of expectations that come with being labelled a superstar and given a huge contract so early in his career.

He's swinging way too hard and at pitches he can't hit. If he chills out, waits for a decent pitch, and watches the bat hit the ball he'll be the superstar they paid for.

Frankly, I think that Julio just might be flat-out dumb. I mean, his at-bats are incredibly dumb in what he swings at, even when he's ahead in the count. He does a lot of the pitcher's work for him.
Re: Is this just who Julio is now?
He’s clearly had a down year, and when it looked like he might turn it around he got injured. Hope he figures out what was wrong in the offseason. Maybe Edgar will be a good influence on him the rest of the year?
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

It isn't surprising. Julio is still developing as a hitter, but he's doing it at the major league level. To a certain extent you can say that about almost any player, but Julio is very clearly not a finished product at the plate. We can see this in his approach and his at bats, and of course, he's going against the best pitchers in the world that all have access to advanced analytics that tell them exactly how to pitch to his weaknesses, and he's playing half his games in the worst ballpark in the world for hitters, and he's on a team and in an organization that is profoundly confused about how to coach and develop hitters, and this is all happening in one of the worst league-wide seasons for offense ever.
