Odd that there's no talk about Ryan Bliss
Kid put up .4 bWAR as a sub only averaging 2 AB's per game over 33 games.
AAA numbers at 24 years old: .269/.377/.456/.833 with 12 homers.
Sitting on the M's bench cost him 100 AB's compared to 2023. He still hit 14 homers between AAA/MLB which likely turns into 20 had he played a full season of AAA baseball.
He now has 55 stolen bases between AAA/MLB.
22K's/5BB's didn't quite match his 97/65 in the minors... but you might wonder if he gets that under a bit more control getting regular playing time and adjusting to playing in the majors.
If you ask me, he's your starting 2B in 2024 if you're looking to save money somewhere and spend in others.

Agreed, I think Moore at 3B and Bliss or another kid at 2B with the offensive improvements made at 1B and DH is likely the best route given the lack of good players available and the lack of a trade market because pretty much any team can make the playoffs if they make an effort these days.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 4:38 amKid put up .4 bWAR as a sub only averaging 2 AB's per game over 33 games.

We've been lapped by the Tigers. It's ridiculous.

On Polanco, he is up to a 93 OPS+ and has hit 16 bombs in 115 games. A lot of players have off years directly following a trade. See, Juan Soto year 1 in SD. I might be inclined to pay the 12M if you think he returns to norms. And yes, I think Bliss will be up at some point next year.
I am a little curious why they went with Rivas over Bliss down the stretch. Rivas 3/3 in SB vs Bliss 5/8. Rivas average and OBP > Bliss, but Bliss SLG > Rivas.
I don't know, I still look at packing up 4 top 100's to get Rooker! Could you get behind?
A RRRRRRRRRoaring offense?
1. Robles OF
2. Rodriguez OF
3. Raley* 1B
4. Rooker DH
5. Raleigh** C
6. Randy OF
7.8.9.
Seven Ate Nine
Some combo of JP CRawford , MooRe, JoRge Polanco, Rojas, Ryan Bliss, Rivas

Soto didn't have an off year. He had a 1.029 OPS on the road and got killed by PetCo.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 7:16 amOver Dilly Moore?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 4:38 amKid put up .4 bWAR as a sub only averaging 2 AB's per game over 33 games.

The M's are not giving Polanco his option.
Bliss can be a 93 OPS+ bat, hit as many homers, but steal 50 more bags and play way better defense than Polanco. And do so while making about $11 million less.
Re: Odd that there's no talk about Ryan Bliss
Yes, Thank God only three more games of Polanco. 3rd straight 2B bust. Who will be the 4th. Maybe they platoon Bliss and Young.

Since that date Polanco is hitting like .200/.270/.330/.600.
On that date Polanco was on a heater... so it's no wonder Bliss wasn't mentioned.

He discusses replacement options, no mention of Bliss
Stopgap. The Mariners have Colt Emerson and Cole Young as top prospects who are middle infielders. While Young is closer than Emerson, having Polanco there would mean that you don't have to rush the kids to the show.

He's not really talking seriously about replacement options if he thinks not re-signing Polanco = rushing the kids.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 7:56 amHe discusses replacement options, no mention of Bliss

I don't agree that Polanco has anything to do with rushing the kids to the show. This writer is off his rocker thinking that Colt Emerson is anywhere close if that's what he thinks.
He was silly to not to mention Bliss who spent actual time at 2B.
