Re: Breaking: Castillo on the Block
I wouldn't say "open to offers" means they want to trade him. They obviously see him as having the least value relative to his salary of all the starting pitchers but they aren't pursuing a trade, just listening to offers.

He's also got a no trade clause
Re: Breaking: Castillo on the Block
lol I funnily look at it like this - Jerry said trading from the rotation as Plan Z..... apparently we are already there

We were at plan Z as soon as Jerry said we weren’t. I never believed for a moment that they weren’t gonna trade from their starting rotation depth.
Castillo has been regressing a bit the last couple of years, so of all of the starters I’d be happy to see him be traded the most. He’s also getting expensive. So if we could bundle him up with Garver or Haniger, we be in a position to go after a lefty or even Sasaki.
There have been rumors that the Cubs want Castillo. Hoerner would be doable, and toss in Garver or Haniger and it’s a done deal. There may be a way to add a prospect or two and net Bellinger as well. That would be a coup.

I am sure he would hate to go to some team that has an offense and will likely go to the playoffs closer to his home in the DR.

I heard that plan W, X and Y were SO close to coming to fruition!

So Hancock basically a 5th starter. He was not bad hoping he can help out next season if Castillo is dealt.
Re: Breaking: Castillo on the Block
I completely agree - Castillo is the one I would deal as well - might even give him away for almost nothing if it means we go out and buy some GOOD players meaning his salary just gets dumped/switched for theirs. If you can trade him to get a good/legit bat back - then that works also. Kept hearing people on forums and on the radio say - Lets trade Kirby or Gilbert and i'm like wft - are you guys stupid? They are the 2 pitchers we should not trade for any reason - both are proven 200 innings guys that have era's 3-3.5 and done that for 3 years - Woo/Miller while great - have not proven that track record yet.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:16 amWe were at plan Z as soon as Jerry said we weren’t.
