6 BP guys
speier
Thornton
sauce
snider
VARGAS
Buzzardo

Raley
having all those guys have no options really limits the club in my opinion

Re: No options left:
Not really, the first 4 will make the team and Vargas sucks. No idea why you have Raley on there.

Re: No options left:
I mean you say the relievers "will make the club" dt, but the point I think here is maybe they all shouldn't?
Aside from Speier, Thornton, Sauce and Snider can all go kick rocks as far as I'm concerned. All 3 of them are the definition of the fickle nature of bullpen arms. Speier I like b.c I've seen him dominate for a solid year. Now that his velocity is back and he's seemingly healthy, he's the lead lefty arm of the pen. That makes Sauce totally expendable. And behold, here comes Brandyn Garcia, another hard throwing lefty.
So why does Sauce just have a locked down spot? So what he doesn't have any options? Already this week the team claimed another reliever in Gott off the scrap heap. They have Kowar on his way back. They have Brash and Taylor and now Garcia. Who gives a toss about Sauce? Good riddance when he eventually gets cut.
Thornton and Snider probably hang on until someone like Bazardo or Cranton come along, or they get hurt. Or the management team realizes they don't need an 8-man pen.
This would be my opening day pen:
Munoz
Santos
Speier
Taylor
Thornton
Snider
Garcia
Come May, add Brash and toss Snider or Thornton.

Re: No options left:
He's out of options. The thread title was who is out of options. But my main focus was the 5 BP OOps 6 BP guys forgot Buzzardo. We know if Bautista and Santos are healthy and effective those are your #1 and #3. Snider had a 193 ERA+ last year Sauce and Speier are your lefty candidates, Thornton is being paid 2M.
Buzzardo is also out of options and if you are running an 8-man pen, You're keeping Santos/Munoz + the 6 out of options guys. But that locks you into the team not hitting the lotto on a guys like Hunter Cranton, Feliz, Fujinami, Brandon Garcia, Drew Pomeranz, etc. Not to mention when guys like Brash and Kowar come back and some point in 2025.
I really like Garcia, and Brash. But guys Thornton, Sauce, Vargas, etc could be getting the wave by the end of ST, or shortly after the start of the season.

I'd take Speier just because he is a lefty, But he will probably fail.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 11:34 pmI mean you say the relievers "will make the club" dt, but the point I think here is maybe they all shouldn't?

Re: No options left:
If Snider is pitching like he did last year that is not an option. I think they kind of like Thornton and his funky delivery. I'd probably guess it would be Taylor. But Taylor was a closer before being called up and a dang good one. Hopefully, it is an embarrassment of riches situation where it shakes out that we have a top 5 rotation and BP.TLO Idaho wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 6:41 amI'd take Speier just because he is a lefty, But he will probably fail.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 11:34 pmI mean you say the relievers "will make the club" dt, but the point I think here is maybe they all shouldn't?

Re: No options left:
You said Raley being out of options limits the club which is ridiculous. Who is Bautista? Kower just got put on the 60 day IL which is a shame because I can't wait to get his 9+ career ERA in the fold.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 6:37 amHe's out of options. Re: No options left:
I just really hope this team wises up and goes back to a 7 man pen.
I just think esp when you have a player like Samad Taylor, find a place for him. He can come on in a bunt-needed situation or as a pinch runner to get a bag. Can defend any spot probably save for 1B and C.
They should also DFA Hanny

Re: No options left:
The only one you don't have on there of the four is Sauce and they will go with an 8 man pen so he will make it to. lolVogelbomb wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 11:34 pmI mean you say the relievers "will make the club" dt, but the point I think here is maybe they all shouldn't?
