Poll: weakest position group

Post by Sibelius Hindemith » Tue Sep 03, 2019 3:34 pm

The reason i included WR is that they have one veteran in that group that has put up any kind of numbers in the NFL. We probably all agree that there is a ton of potential with DK and high expectations with Ursua and Jennings.

Secondary I guess. I don't think they're bad but not as good as the Offensive line (could be best unit on team now) or Wide receiver.

I dont think the secondary is bad, but probably the weakest on this team now that Ansah is healing and Clowney is here. Says a lot for the talent acquired.

Not with Ifedi and Pocic starting. Not to mention Britt hasn't been so great lately and Fluker can't pass block.

Okay, if...

Iupati gets healthy and is half the player he was in SF
Ifedi continues to get better (on a steep curve)
Britt returns to his 2015-17 self
Fluker doesn't pull something and miss half the season

.... they can be a better than average line.

But that's a lot of ifs.

The O-line is solid and I have no problems with it unless a few guys get hurt. They were a better than average offensive line last year and they have another year of cohesion together in a new system under their belt. I think the Wide receivers are going to be great. Ursua is going to go down as the steal of the draft and if nothing else Metcalf is going to give defenses fits trying to matchup with and take attention away from the other guys. The Secondary blows end of story.

I guess it's unanimous.

On the other hand...

Tre Flowers is good and getting better.
Griffin looked improved during the preseason games from how ge looked last year.
Blair is an upgrade over Hill and Thompson, if he can just get past the back issues.
McDougald is serviceable and can play either safety.
The guy they picked up from the Jets sounds like can be a decent nickel corner, plus Amadi looks good there too.

They could surprise us this year.

Don't know anything about the guy from the Jets but on the radio this morning Brock Huard said that he isn't a starting level Nickel.
