Officials already in regular season form?Michael K. wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 5:16 pmMissed the game, but saw some highlights on ESPN. Basically all about the Steelers. How the EF was the TD in the corner that put Pitt up two scores not OPI? He clearly reaches back and straight arms the DB away. Zero chance that doesn’t get called if a defender does that.

My wife calls the big guys "cheese eaters" and is always saying the Seahawks need more big cheese eaters.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 5:08 pmGood stuff here:

Looks like we might have found two good ones. (knocking on wood)

The OL and DL were easily the high points - which is WEIRD, right?? That might bode well for the future, especially considering our star WRs and star S's didn't play.
Cross looks like the real deal. Not sure Lucas will beat out Curhan (not a knock on Lucas, I like Curhan), but it was interesting they played Curhan at RG. That might be his future position.
Like 6 different D-Linemen got pressures, too. I don't remember that happening in any game the past few years. I'm ok going 4-13 or something if we end up with solid groups of cheese-eaters.

4-13 with very good D line and O line play seems unlikely.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 7:42 pmThe OL and DL were easily the high points - which is WEIRD, right?? That might bode well for the future, especially considering our star WRs and star S's didn't play.

If the cheese eaters are solid, your prediction is pessimistic. So it goes in cheese eater theory anyway.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 7:42 pmThe OL and DL were easily the high points - which is WEIRD, right?? They were saying Curhan can play guard. Knowing Pete, that makes Abe getting in the starting rotation more likely. maybe.

4-13 wasn't a prediction, I was just saying that would be OK with me if the young guys developed into a stud group.

I know, just saying if that happens you are going to be better than 4-13.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 10:48 pm4-13 wasn't a prediction, I was just saying that would be OK with me if the young guys developed into a stud group.

In defense of Geno. Looks like almost identical stats other than the Two TDs. If 2 TDs equal 45 points higher QB rating then that stat is whacked. Also, sure Geno had the benefit of the 1st string O Line but he also most likely went against a better Defense. So I think that is a wash. Watched that Fant replay. My God Lockett would have got four feet in on that ball. He needs to clean that up.
No way Lock gets named starter this week but will be interesting if he gets the start to avoid the continued apples to orangutans comparisons.

QB conundrum murkier than ever
In the second significant test of the quarterback battle between Geno Smith and Drew Lock to take over for Wilson, Lock again seemed to have the better day — at least numerically. Lock was 11 of 15 for 102 yards and two touchdowns and a passer rating of 131.1 to Smith’s 10 of 15 for 101 yards and zero TDs and a rating of 85.7.
But there were all kinds of caveats. Smith played behind the Seahawks’ No. 1 offensive line, which would seem a significant advantage, while Lock played behind the backups. Smith had two passes dropped and another that should have been complete had tight end Noah Fant gotten both feet inbounds.
