Amen! Both are spot on.
I have no problem with early time outs in the 1st half. The defense makes defensive changes that you didn't anticipate them making. A 1st half time out is a time for an offensive adjustment to what the defense is showing. An experienced QB should be able to run the 2 minute offense well enough that with 1 time out you should be able to get points.
2nd half time outs are a different animal. You need to get as many as you can get to under 4mins...for either defense or offense. I am tired of the mistakes from special teams using time outs or the defense using them because they don't have the right number of players on the field. That happened way too much last year.
