Frankly they didn't play that well against Atlanta. The Falcons just played like the Huskies.
Atlanta had more yards, more 1st downs, more plays from scrimmage and more time of possession. Atlanta gave them 3 turnovers directly leading to 10 points. They had 15 yard roughing the passer on 3rd and 5 that led to a TD and they missed a field goal. There's your 20 points right there.
So, if we lost a game in that fashion, what would you say? You don't like MacDonald, I get that, what ever. But you don't think this kind of consternation is a bit premature? Holmgren was 31 and 33 his first four years. As I mentioned before, Pete Carroll was 14 and 18 his first two years. This "winning team" that Pete handed him? That you already referenced? Was 25 and 26 the last three years and lost their only playoff game in those three years by a whopping 41 to 23 score. The Seahawks didn't move away from Carroll because this team was trending in the right direction.
The Huskies have lost in that fashion several times and I feel better about their direction than I do the Hawks.
Your points on Holmgren and Carroll are exactly why they shouldn't have hired a 36 year old with zero head coaching experience. Why would you want to sit around a wait for him to figure things out? I am not going to be happy if the Hawks go 31- 33 over the next four years.

MacDonald is billed as some sort of defensive guru. This team invested major draft capitol and free agent money into the defense and the defense is every bit as bad as last year. I really don't care that they are lining up in a different spot. I care about results.

It's been pretty well documented how many defensive players we have been missing. It's also been discussed at length how the draft capitol has been used on things like RB, WR, CB etc., instead of interior O and D Line. How many of these players they have invested in were MacDonald's choice? Funny how if this had happened last year, I assume you'd be calling out the players for not performing to their capabilities. But now that it's a new HC, when the players don't perform it's his fault? Sounds like your frustration might be better pointed at the guys that were in charge of talent evaluation and acquisition. One of which was Pete Carroll!

Again, Pete had one playoff appearance in the past three seasons and an overall losing record. But the guy 8 games in at .500 with that same team is the problem? You can believe this is a playoff team, I don't, and again, only after a surprising 3 and 0 start did I ever even give the playoffs a thought. We are tied for first in our division, and the guy that inherited a team that was 25 and 27 counting the playoffs in the past three years is somehow failing?

I believe that Pete Carroll's Seahawks were at one point 6 and 1 in 2020. From that point forward? His team was 31 and 31. But? We should have kept him because the guy that's 4 and 4 is blowing it?

As for the Huskies? They lose games because they are the least disciplined team I have ever watched, and they make asinine in game coaching decisions they then blame the players. You can have Fisch and his fucking staff, I'll keep MacDonald and his.

They lost to the lions but they still played well, they lost to the Bills and played like shit, that's the issue, not their record. Win or lose its the quality of the football they play. The recency bias is witnessing some really crappy football. There's no excuse, the Bills didn't force them into those mistakes. I don't see what MM being a rookie coach would have to do with it either
The worst loss of the season by far was at home vs. the Giants who are 1-6 vs. the rest of the league but then we go on the road and beat the Falcons who are 5-2 vs. the rest of the league on the road by 20 points. Can't take what happened in the last game vs. a SB contender in a game we would have been in if not for two inane trips to the red zone and extrapolate it out to the entire rest of the season. imo
It's not about extrapolating over the rest of the season, it's about seeing improvement over the season played. Yeah they lost to the Bills, the issue for me is they looked as inept as they have all season. If you guys are satisfied with the progress okay then
I would rather have the bottom out in week 8 than week 18. If they don't improve between now and then, sure the season was a failure. The bad snap the trip on 4th and goal and the idiot Roughing the passer cost them 15 points. Would have been an entirely different game at the start of the second half. Would have been 14-10 good guys and call me crazy I think the second half goes a bit differently.
