The offense did good. The Geno worshippers can light their candles, or whatever it is they do when they are happy. But this felt like a defensive victory. No one missed Dodson. Witherspoon lived up to his hype. The run was mostly throttled. Tackling was better. The defense did not suck.
Defense was good. Offense scored all 20 points with Bosa on the bench.
I think you could say more than that about the defense
That was his masterpiece on defense. This was only the second time a Brock Purdy-led offense—I’m not counting his injury-shortened NFC Championship game against the Eagles—has failed to eclipse 300 yards in a game. Christian McCaffrey was held under 80 yards rushing. Deebo Samuel only had 21 total yards. Brock Purdy was limited to 146 net yards on 28 pass attempts. Only one pass play gained more than 20 yards and only two rushes gained more than 10
That was the MM defense we were hyped about. He was brought in to beat the 49ers and he did it

I think we are saying the same thing.
Did anybody else notice that Abe Lucas could barely walk on some plays? Isn't there somebody out there who has a decent right tackle we could have traded for?

I don't know the actual snap count, but there were stretches in the game where Jerrell was playing, not Abe.

Bottom line... a win on the road. I'll take it.

Seems like more than just a win on the road, they haven't beaten the 49ers in what, four years? Nobody seems very impressed

Abe played all but two series. Pretty solid after being out so long.

Especially after they destroyed us at home just a few weeks ago.

On O they were missing Kittle and Aiyuk and Trent Williams was banged up. On D they were without Greenlaw, Ward, Hargrave and several other DL guys and then Bosa having to leave the game. Wasn't the same team they've faced the past 6 times or whatever.

And MM had just got done overhauling his lbs and having his starting center retire, it was a good win

Such a huge win! An L was probably the season. Got to credit the Hawks for having the guts to make the midseason moves on D to shore up what we weren't getting from Dodson and Baker. That took balls to do that, admitting basically they got it wrong. A lot of teams might fold their tent and just say "rebuild," but these guys at VMAC are still all in for this year in the grindhouse NFC West.

Finally!! I hate the feckin' Niners...
