I like the idea of building the draft for next year. I truly believe we need to almost have a year down year next year. This isn't the team MM wants, so I guess let him build it.

We aren’t getting the 4th pick for Dk

Cut

Locket 17m
D Jones 16.5m
Fant 9m
Roy Tob 6.6m
Can Young 1m
Mike Morris 1m

51 mill savings. 24 mil cap space. Total.
We are over the cap by 27m
You forgot Geno. That is another $31M
Don’t think he will be cut unless we draft someone. So a post June 1 cut.

Regardless it won’t be a 31m cap savings. We will have to still sign a qb if not draft So they will be at least 10 mil. Daniel Jones, fields, and more will still cost us.

I’d sign Daniel if he could come. 10 mil if we can. Use that 21 on the online and do a run heavy offense. DJ can be a good qb if not main dude.

Sure we will be exciting
Draft is in April so why a post June cut?

I would have said the same thing. But, looking at the last 6 drafts my trust in Johns drafting isn't really high. 1 good draft in the last 6. 1 starter last year in the draft (AJ close, and will be when they cut Fants 9 million dollar cap), 3 starters in the 23 draft (1 in Olu is because our center quit mid season), 6 starters in a fantastic draft in 22 (1st 6 picks are starters), no starters in 21, no current starters in 20, 1 starter in 19. Sorry, that isn't very good.

Lets look at who is left out of the drafts that is telling also.

24 7 of 8
23 10 of 10 (Young on practice squad I think, Reed on IR, Morris never plays, Bradford sucks and is on IR
22 7 of 9
21 2 of 3
20 NONE
19 1 of 11

Honestly, I don't think our outlook is very good the way it is going. Mid level drafting has lead to mid level production.

No QBs
DT has been so so. Murphy, Morris, Christmas, and Young. Ok, that is bad not so so. then you wonder defensive issues. Event the sure shot Murphy looked so so.

DE good. Hall, Mafe and Collier. 2 for 3 aint bad

LB. Again, Knight, Young, Brooks, Taylor (DE Really), Barton. Some nice ones. BBK was a filler player.

Corner Spoon, Tariq, Brown. Those 1st two home runs. Brown serviceable,

Oline come on. Lucas and Cross Ok, good. I think Cross is average not great (Cosell spelling?? thinks the same). Then there is Laumea, Jerrel, Hayes, Haynes, Lewis, Stone, Not impressed. Rather bad.

WR some mammoth homers. DK and JSN alone are studs. Then there is swain, Young, Melton, Dee Esk, Sullivan, Ursua and Jennings. The best outside the DK and JSN is an UDFA nt one of the 6 drafted guys.

Safety. Ok, so so again at the best. Colby is a converted CB. But, so is Love. Reed, Ugo, and blair. Not very good.

TE OK Colby and AJ Nice backups. AJ has shown some flashes.

RB has been on of the better drafted positions. K9, Charb, McIntosh, Homer, Dallas. All NFL worthy RBs. All can be argued to be starters(if kickoff and punt returning is included).

So, outside of starting how many are Pro Bowl type players, not All Pro. 5 players out of the last 6 drafts? That borderline sucks. 2 are WR and 2 are Corners. This should explain why we are where we are. Just barely above average. The players drafted that I think are Pro Bowl level at some time. Spoon, DK, Tariq, Brooks, and JSN. K9 Could, but he isn't one of the leagues top backs. Heck when healthy he isn't in the top 3 in our own division. Kyren for the Rams is superior and so is Conner for the Cards. Looking at production not on "he could be awesome".

The more I look John's drafting I don't trust it anymore to get us to the next level. 6 drafts should have gotten us there if that is the way.

John maybe better at getting from other people. Our best QB, LB, DT, Safety, TE, DE are all drafted by other teams. And in that short time Love, Big Cat, Love, Jones and yes Geno are or have been a pro bowl level player---that makes 5 Pro bowl level players traded for by John and 5 drafted. and all of those traded for are from the last 2 years. Heck 1.5 for most. So, I don't believe John can draft his way out of this mid level program. 6 years of mediocre drafting is going to change? 1 good draft in 6 years?? 1 impaact defensive player drafted in 6 years. Like real impactful-Spoon. Only 2 offensive real impactful players in 6 years and one injured a lot impactful player in K9.

Yeah, John is going to draft his way out of it. Oh, it is Pete's fault. Well Pete was a defensive guy and still little impactful guys (Hall and Mafe can develop into it). And how many offensive impactful guys? Last years draft was stellar--not. Murphy, Haynes, Knight (better pick than I thought, but is he a stud? no), Brner, Prichett, Laumea, James and Jarrel. Wow, not very good.

Gotta trade. Got to hit homers on over the place to get to the next level. Oh, and QB. All we have signed is Geno.

Draft his way out? My trust in John to do that has faded so much. Literally OL and DT drafting is John's issue and wonder why we are where we are.

You don't have to convince me that JS is a problem. I think his inability to find an O Line in a decade might get him fired just about anywhere else. You'd think they would have lucked into a couple of good ones in that time, but even when we had decent run blocking O Lines? It seemed they couldn't pass protect, and vice versa.

That said, the reason I was optimistic this year was the last couple of drafts. They just can't hit on an O Line. Which in and of it's self isn't the worst crime ever, but he has basically removed an OC every other year on average (pretty sure we are on our 4th in 9 years right?)and then doubles down with the same philosophy in adding talent. Then fires another OC when his own philosophy is the reason we can't move the ball consistently.

I don't see anything changing with Schneider in charge. His ego won't allow it. If Pete goes to Chicago and rebuilds, I guess we will know who to give credit to for the Seahawk rebuild all those years ago? I feel I was very wrong. I put all the ills on Pete...and I think he had his hand in a lot of what turned this team from Dynasty to just above mediocre. But JS didn't exactly show us this year that he can do it once Pete was out of his way. This O Line might have been one of the worst. Just throws spare parts at it and then raises his hands when it won't work.

I thought Jonah Coleman announced he was coming back?

I am not sure but he is listed as an option.

But check out my latest mock:

I didn't see a link to the "draft simulator" anywhere in this thread, which is odd.

I imagine the one from last year or the year before had the link. I appreciate you adding that though. I haven't had the time to do one yet, but intend to. It's pretty fun. Damn, what a geek I am!
