Caroll To the Raiders
Re: Caroll To the Raiders
Love Pete - but I just don't get this. Oh wait, it's the Raiders. Never mind. Expecting a 73 year old to mesh with this new generation of college players - while having been out of the college game for 15 years - I mean... just makes no sense.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 4:28 pm3 year deal for the 73 year old.

It seems a bit sad to me that he couldn't walk away from it and pursue other things. Was his life that empty without football?

Yeah, reminds me of a president we can't seem to get rid of.
I would have bet on belichick being the one that kept their pro career going.

Right? Not to mention, the least disciplined coach in NFL history is going to coach millionaire 20 something males in Vegas? This has Miami Hurricanes of the 80s and 90s written all over it. Somewhere Dennis Erickson is updating his resume and Mike Price is lining up the Hookers and Blow! Gonna be chaos.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 4:50 pmIt seems a bit sad to me that he couldn't walk away from it and pursue other things. Was his life that empty without football?

Interesting, Tom Brady is an owner, figure he knows what he wants in a HC
Whether Carroll has his eyes on current Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell, a free agent quarterback, or an incoming draft prospect, Raiders fans should be excited. Pete Carroll and Tom Brady, the best quarterback to ever do it, know what they're doing. And the two together, which feels incredibly backward, could be a very formidable duo in developing a quarterback

There's that, tough division
. Whoever took this job was walking into a divisional buzzsaw, with Andy Reid, Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh manning the other three franchises in the AFC West. Good freaking luck finding someone with the chops to match up with those guys. Carroll fits the bill in that regard

But it will be fun to watch!
In other news, the Cowboys have decided to go with Schotty.
Please weigh in, Michael K!

I think Schotty was handcuffed while here. That team was 8 and 1, then struggled one game and Pete came out with his “uncomfortable with this style” bullshit. They couldn’t figure out how to beat the two deep. But also couldn’t run the ball. O Line issues? Yup.
I’d have never hired him to be the HC, but I’m also not a geriatric old coot from Texas with more money than some foreign countries!

I guess Prescott likes him and his offense and he works cheap. Jerry Jones likes to keep costs down
