If the intent of the the salary cap is parity as opposed to just saving the owners money it is a complete fail. And the lack of a cap does nothing to prevent parity in MLB. Take a look at how many SB winners there have been this century and how many WS winners there have been.

It makes more sense if you just look at the QBs that have won. It's not just the cap, it's the fact that once you have the QB, he needs to elevate the rest of the team, because you can no longer over spend to surround him. I think if you look at playoff teams as opposed to just the ultimate winner? There are more teams involved in the NFL than in baseball.

Plus? Baseball is a series. Strange shit can happen in a series.

Yeah, and if you could come up with an argument how getting a QB is due to an unfair advantage then you might have something. But qbs pop up all over the place. Where would the 49ers be if they hadn't hit on purdy. Was that luck or skill? For all the props the 49ers get for being smart that was pretty damn lucky. But on the other hand, they did draft him, that wasn't luck

And there's the draft capital the 49ers wasted moving up to draft that other guy. Did purdy ever save their asses. It's like the Browns, how much draft capital have they wasted. JS was willing to pay for Adams but I get the feeling he's reluctant to with a QB

It seems to be a formula for sustained mediocrity.
^this

The cap is a thing, but only mediocre teams are limited (in reality) by the cap.
Otherwise, the Rams would be completely fucked still.
Denver could never have had as good a season as they just did.
How the hell are the Cheifs doing it?

The glass is half full. I don't mind doing whatever to keep Big Cat. But the cap is not an excuse.
It's time for Schneider to get creative. Maybe try something different. Or lose his job.

The cap is not an excuse, it's a challenge, it takes clever strategy to be good at cap decisions. Teams have staff just for cap strategy. JS hired a guy awhile ago that has a reputation of being clever with it. I don't think I would want to be a NFL gm and have to deal with it. We wouldn't be talking about the offensive line if it wasn't for the cap. I think that's what's behind his approach to it. The chiefs were able to give Mahomes a second contract and not skip a beatt, isn't he the NFL's highest paid QB? And they signed Cris Jones. I'm thinking the chiefs are doing some cap management.
