JS is good. Just not real good. And the last 6 years have proved that. Problems designing a team. Same issues over and over. JS just above average per the rankings. And that’s what he has proved to be.
He should be on the hot seat. I would give him this draft and one more and we better have won a playoff game.
At the same time, the 2024 defense was pretty damn good by the end of the season. If they take one more good
step forward, they could be top 5. Ernest and Reed resigned. They have plenty of cap to add to that defense.
Theoretically, if you don't let the other team score, you can't lose. That sounds stupid, but Uncle Rico could have
been the Seahawks QB the day we beat the Broncos in the SB. Jalen Hurts and Saquan are good, but when you put
Mahomes on his ass every play, you win the SB.

Start Howell.
Lose 13 or so games.
Draft Manning.

Yep, that's what I'm saying. When looking at the 2025 QB draft class for someone that can take you to a championship, nobody stands out. Next year's QB class is stronger.

My hope is this is set up in a way that we can easily cut him next year or the year after. I can handle having Darnold and Howell next year, but my preference would be to have a young guy ready. The fact that next year's draft is better? My son wants Dart. Have him sit a year behind Darnold and then start. I could warm up to that idea.

I like that idea with Dart too. But I wonder if I'm a victim of pre-draft psyops. I've rarely seen a guy get hyped so much in such a short time. Maybe Dart will be good in the NFL, maybe his agent is a sorcerer, maybe both.

"I want Geno to be here," Macdonald said on Jan. 7. "I think he's a heck of a player ... I feel like Geno's the best for the team right now. I'll be involved with it. Ultimately, it's not my decision. It's a Seahawks decision, but Geno knows how we feel about him, and we love him as our starting quarterback, for sure."

I guess Schneider thought otherwise.
I posted JS's quotes and everyone scoffed. So obvious they were moving on.
If they could have agreed on the price he'd still be there. JS wanted him but at his price. There's something I appreciate about JS, how he negotiates. He comes up with the number that fits the Seahawks. He sticks to it, he doesn't waiver, doesn't second guess. This is how I see him, I think he's a confident negotiator

Geno didn't want to be here, it's not the other way around. We signed Darnold for less than they are reported to have offered Geno. If Geno signed the offer? He's here, we don't have the pick and we don't have a younger cheaper version of Geno. Ended up for the best, but let's not pretend JS worked some kind of magic. Geno not only didn't sign the offer, he didn't make a counter offer. That wasn't a negotiation, that was us trying to pay him and him saying no.

A better question might be? Why would anyone chose Vegas over here? I think our offense is going to make the days of Pete Carroll settling for a punt on third and medium look like the old Air Coryell Chargers! We hired all these offensive coaches and immediately the current QB stopped negotiating with us and the "supposed #1" receiver asked for a trade? Not a coincidence.

not true when you consider the guaranty though - something like $66M guaranteed for Geno, far lower for Sam. not to mention an additional $10m available in incentives. guess they didnt learn their lesson from Geno's week 18 last year (or maybe they're more team-oriented markers).
