As to Milroe, I know this is a group that immediately downgrades/dimisses you if you haven't gone through the minors as fast as Jr. and Arod did and hit like they did mid career coming out of the box. Some players need time to sit and some do not. Steve Young sat behind Montana for 4 years before taking the reigns. So did Aaron Rodgers. So did 90% of all NFL QB's. We got Darnold relatively cheap because he had been rushed in to playing for the Jets. I bet next year Milroe is moved to the #2 and he will sit then as well. It takes some guys a lot longer to become productive. As for him being a 3rd pick; so what? We all know JS has his idea of a guy's draft position at the beginning of each draft and he drafts the best player on his board at that time when his pick may come or is done talking to other teams about trading. I trust JS so I trust that he made a good pick of Milroe.
Steve Young and Aaron Rogers were at least the back-up QB behind the starter. Milroe can't even crack that.
I will be overjoyed if Milroe comes around and becomes a Lamar. He won't, though. lol.
He was a waste of a 3rd rounder.

Seattle doesn't need Milroe to move up the depth chart this year - we have an experienced back up in Lock. That is literally the point, and how many games has Lock played in this season? One? Why does Milroe need to be the number 2 right now? There is no rush, no urgency, we have two experienced guys ahead of him - it's not a knock on Milroe, it's a nod to Schneider building a reasonably deep QB room. Judging the pick as bad while Seattle is 13-3 and not needing his services - seems like a blessing in that he can develop at whatever pace the team needs. Once again I have to point out the context of the pick - Seattle's QB room was being completely overturned - we went from a Geno and a shit back up to Darnold, Lock and Milroe - I seem to remember most people were pretty excited about the pick at the time. Most people need instant gratification - they play the short game. Milroe is a long game approach. Not too long ago people were complaining about Byron Murphy, too. These are the people that place 4th in thier fantasy league and think they know how to run a real team, despite not knowing what an a-gap is

Was it Jamal Adams where we had similar debates? Also, Spoon vs. Carter? I'm sure there were more.
Hindsight is perfectly acceptable when determining if a pick or trade was a good one or not. In fact, it's the only final
verdict. It is fair to say "the jury is still out" on a player that's still on the team. It ultimately doesn't matter if the fans
thought it was a good idea or not. You don't have to dislike JS to say a pick or trade was fucked. He makes a lot of picks
and trades. I was excited about the Milroe pick because I love QBs that run a lot. I'm now convinced it was a bad use
of a pretty valuable draft pick. I don't feel guilty about that. I'm not the GM. I never once complained about Byron Murphy and it wouldn't prove anything about Milroe if I did. I don't play FFB, but it wouldn't matter if I did.

The Seahawks reunited with Drew Lock as an insurance policy purchased for a ham sandwich. Nine days later, they
drafted Milroe. That is one hell of a project if JS was thinking Milroe would be the third string emergency QB on
the day he drafted him. The last time he drafted a QB in the 3rd round, it was Russell Wilson. I'm saying only history
will decide if Milroe was a good pick or not. Not discussions on if JS's thought process was sound or not.

Do I know for sure Milroe is a bust? No, he's still on the team. Why do I think he will never amount to shit? I'm
reading the tea leaves. He's not even the back-up. He hasn't been able to replace a ham sandwich. He looked bad
in pre-season where the bar was extremely low. He barely even tried to run and when he did it wasn't effective.
So, not only is he a project as a thrower, he's not showing much promise as a duel threat either.
This guy will never work out. I want to be wrong, but I'm not.

I don't disagree with with what you are saying. However context is often lost when determining a player to be a bust. I think it was a good pick - a gamble for sure - but you have to roll the dice sometimes. playing it safe all the time gets you nowhere fast. Having a QB room in flux - I think a calculated gamble on a 'duel threat' is reasonable. I would not judge him on the preseason - consider all the new parts, new players, new coordinator, the offensive line - that is too many variables right out of the gate for success to be expected - it's really a set up to fail for him. I am not claiming he will be successful - I do not know - but I think his style is very conducive to the modern game - scrambling, athletic QB's. More reason why the pick made sense to me - it's the future of the game. To me it's a long game approach. Not many classic drop back passers coming out of college anymore - for many reasons - a different discussion. Seattle made a smart move in getting Darnold, his experienced back up, then a wild card in Molroe who does NOT need to be the guy right now - it's a calculated luxury pick to me.

100% the jury is still out - but seattle is not looking at Milroe as the immediate guy - running an offense that has been pretty conservative is also not a recipe for getting Milroe snaps this year. I don't rememebr what I thought of the Adams trade at the time, but I know I 100% I wanted Carter - because I am 'trenches first' inphilosophy and we had the worst run defense in the conference atb the time - so drafting a secondary player - regardless of his skill set - does not help you fix your most glaring problem. Both Adams and Spoon were Carroll moves - not Schneider, IMO. I still would take Carter there - because of the situation at the time.

Could they have made a more prudent pick? Probably. But if Milroe holds a clipboard for a couple years and learns the game correctly, he could still pay dividends. I do think his style is the future of the league, and that is a major reason why I support the pick. He is a good problem to have!

If we had needed Milroe this year? We wouldn't be playing for the one seed today. Nothing we have seen says this was a bad pick. The Rodgers comparison is a valid one. Is Milroe Aaron Rodgers? No, he's not that kind of player, but he sure has the athleticism to be similar to Lamar. There was no reason not to take him.

I also agree with those that say they didn't want Sanders. I didn't either, but Sanders baggage kept him from being the #1 overall that many thought he was. Milroe doesn't have that type of talent. I mean, it you don't like Sanders, then I assume you also didn't like Jalen Carter right?

I didn't like either of them. And I'm not terrible upset we didn't take Sanders. But right now? On the field? It looks like it would have been the right pick. But that's hindsight. I still think Milroe has a chance to live up to his selection.

The right pick would have been an IOL or NT, something they actually needed. Playing QB lottery when you are trying to win now and already have the position filled is stupid.

Win now!? I'm thrilled with where we are, but a big reason we ended up with Geno was we refused to ever bring anyone in when Russ was here, and Darnold was sure not Russ.

This is utter nonsense. The QB situation was still unknown - Darnold had not thrown one pass yet. No one knew what we had. He's still a question mark. They literally spent thier first pick on the interior - and please explain how they needed a NT - when the defense is already stacked there? Your position holds no water. YOu can make your claim about who else to pick there - but your position is not only inaccurate, it doesn't prove on any level the Milroe pick was bad. You're just 'sayin' stuff' and hoping no one challenges it. They're not gonna pick two interior lineman that close together. The defense is stacked up front. The jury is STILL out on Darnold. Literally every position you are taking is incorrect. But - please continue to argue with empty words and inaccuracies. Milroe was a pick to develop - a chess piece - they are playing the long game with him - you make those moves when you can. You can argue all you want - it doesn't make that untrue. Not every player is drafted to be a day one starter. It's called 'strategy'. You continue to play the short game while ignoring the long game. You can take the position you would have drafted someone else, but you can't take the position Milroe was a bad pick. That is simply not true. There is no data showing that. One bad play in preseason is not 'proof'. Milroe not ursurping the starter in year one does not make it a busted draft pick. It just doesn't. That is a false conclusion - but one you have to push for your narrative to work. You know who else was a long game pick? Rylie Mills - drafted right after Milroe - a DT - it was known he wasn't going to play right away due to injury but he was a stud at ND so they took him to ease him into the rotation. So, they actually got a DT AND Milroe. Right?

Why did we even draft Milroe? Seems like a totally wasted pick in my mind.
It was a wasted pick. The guy put up blah numbers at Alabama, and if you put up blah numbers in college, what makes one think he'll be a good pro? Like Jake Locker.

Still, great draft, especially if Horton can stay healthy.
Keep enough rounds in the chamber, and eventually one of them is gonna hit! Schneider has nailed all of his last 4 season 1st and 2nd Rd picks!
