Hearing that Lawrence may retire. That would free up nearly $12 mil in cap space (assuming the dead cap would be negated) although his actual value if he played would probably be greater than that.

Yep, the contributions he made this year are worth more than any cap hit savings. I was bummed when I heard this, but...it makes sense. I bet Aaron Darnold still wishes he had gone out after he got his ring.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Feb 27, 2026 8:12 pmHearing that Lawrence may retire. Usually the great ones mention retiring several times before they actually do. just sayinMichael K. wrote: ↑Fri Feb 27, 2026 9:24 pmYep, the contributions he made this year are worth more than any cap hit savings. What in the actual fuck is the deal with Horton? I was watching the season replay film on Youtube and I had forgotten
how many nice plays and TDs the rookie had. He had return for a TD as well. We need him.

Good point.
As for Horton. He fell in the draft because he couldn't stay healthy. It was definitely a worth while risk, but I have zero faith he is anything more than the next Paul Richardson.

Re: Free Agents - Cap Space - who stays, who's gone
Deal is he has mentioned it before, he was considering it last season. Hopefully he doesn't want to leave $9 mil on the table
Also his wife is pregnant, he's got another kid coming. Whether that impact his decision. That be the sixth so probably take it in strideThe biggest news, though, was Brady once again noting that it’s to be determined whether DeMarcus Lawrence will retire or return for the 2026 season. He mentioned that retirement was a consideration a year ago for Lawrence. Now, after winning a Super Bowl, will he decide to go out on a high?
If he does retire, the Seahawks aren’t just losing a key starter. They are losing a vastly experienced alpha who provided toughness, leadership and an edge to this defense. He was absolutely critical in shaping ‘the Dark Side’.
