They sold out to the marketability of one player over the integrity of the game.
Like Mahomes? :D
Every league promotes their stars.

The irony is that in the one sport that requires the least amount of team coordination, you need the most contribution from everyone to win. The sport where you can grab some dude at the trade deadline and you don't need to teach him your schemes and plays, he already knows how to turn a double play lol.

Cool, highlights of guys that will come here and whoop up on the Sonics. Why does that excite me? This city missed out on a shit load of talent that ended up in OKC, and now we get an expansion franchise. Thanks, but fuck off. I won't be watching.

Attending an NBA game typically costs around $147-$200 per person for a standard experience, including tickets, parking, and concessions. A family of four can expect an average cost of roughly $390 to over $1,400, depending on the team, seat location, and demand. Costs vary widely, with cheaper seats starting at $20–$50 and premium tickets reaching hundreds or thousands.

Key Cost Breakdown (2024-2025 Season):
Average Ticket Price: The 2024-25 season average is roughly $228, with significant disparities; Los Angeles Lakers tickets are the highest (avg. $702), while Memphis Grizzlies are among the lowest ($96).
Lower Level Tickets: Typically cost between $75 and $150+.
"Nosebleed" Seats: Often available for $20–$40 for lower-demand games.
In-Arena Expenses: Parking and concessions (beer, hot dogs) add significant costs, with some arenas charging over $14 for a single beer.
Factors Affecting Price:
Matchup & Demand: Tickets for popular teams (Knicks, Celtics, Warriors) are generally higher.
Game Type: Regular-season games are cheaper than playoffs.
Platform Fees: Tickets on sites like SeatGeek or Ticketmaster can incur significant fees.
Around $200 per person to watch a bunch of guys in Sonics uniforms that I've never heard of and that are only available because the team they used to play for no longer wanted them or wanted to pay them? Why?

^^^^ appropriate response.

Let's not forget how badly Seattle's Mayor fucked things up. NO, not the one that let them go, he was correct in NOT giving in to paying for another arena - municipalities should NOT be doing that. Remember the mayor that fucked Steve Hansen's SODO arena because he wanted to leave his legacy that "gays support sports"? Anyone remember that scumbag? He refused to let Hansen build his arena because he wanted to shit city money away on the coliseum - at tax payer expense of course - literally making it about the gay communitee - and then got booted from office for some sex scandel with minor. Who remembers that? Now you have a mayor who is so spectacularly inept, woke and stupid... just imagine the problems she will cause.

Imagine the new "reimagined" logo, or a retarded new name, all opportunities for stupid people to fuck this up - and you know damn well they will. "Climate Pledge Arena" I mean that shit is EMBARRASSING.

I really can't believe how far seattle has fallen. Now y'all get that super fun income tax because the crooked dems have grifted all your money - and they want more. Imagine the grifting opportunities with an NBA team - more taxes to rip off - my god the horror show.

And that's before we even get into the OPEN corruption with league officiating and point shaving scandals. Who remember the Suns shooting 67 free throws to keep the SOnics out of the finals so they could have teh Barkley/Jordan matchup? Lakers/Kings? These games aren't real. WHo is paying $200 to go watch a game potentially officiated fraudulently? That's utterly fucking ridiculous!

As much as I have always hated OKC, I kinda love it now that the shittiest city in the league is now the top dog - that small market that no one watches is the leagues crown jewel - I can't stop laughing at the irony.

Now they want to come back and grift seattle and that amazing fan base again? You gotta be kidding me. Fuck that times 1,000,000,000
