Been watching Seahawk highlights from 2000 - 2007

Riding the stationary bike at home would be so boring if it weren't for Hawk highlights and there have been a lot of them since the franchise hit its stride in 2003. Some observations:

1) Matt Hasselbeck was at best a better than average QB. Look at the numbers he put up (good but not great), very few game winning TD drives (his game winners usually ended with Rian Lindell or Josh Brown booming a 50-yarder to win it), a LOT of bad INTs that were worse than his infamous one in Green Bay, and this was with an embarrassment of riches talent-wise around him. We had the best offense in the league and he held it back.

2) Shaun Alexander...just how good was he? He had some breakaway speed in his early years, but even in his big year in 2005 he rarely seemed to have that or the ability to run through tackles that Marshawn Lynch did or Chris Carson does. In spite of that he put up over 1,800 yards and scored 28 TDs. Just how much of that was him and how much of that was...

3)...Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson? The best part of watching those Hawk highlights is on short-yardage where everyone knows what's coming and those two didn't give a damn. Either a hole opened up or the edge opened up virtually every single time. Jones is the best player in franchise history. Our o-line was the best in the league and we all wish Russell Wilson could have even half of that.

4) The defense was usually pretty good, they had a good number of shutdown games and with the talent they had on offense, they should have been winning on average 12-13 games per year, but again I think Hass held them back, just like Dave Krieg did in the '80s when they should have signed Warren Moon.

5) Mike Holmgren was a good coach and he got the Hawks started down a winning path which has only briefly been stepped off of since. Too bad he got screwed out of a fair chance at a ring.
