No there isnt. There were many more in Kareem's career than one. Three pointer is a game changer but they barely even play defense anymore. If there was a dominant big man now with the skill of Wilt or Kareem it would be unstoppable.Oso Dorado wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 3:38 pmCare to justify that? Do you think Kareem, if he was on today's NBA would still wind up with the most points in NBA history? He'd still be unguardable, one on one, but there are more good mobile 7 footers tan there were 40-50 years ago. The prevalence of the three pointer in the modern game would also lessen the importance of a dominant big man.ThePro wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 8:22 amThat's about sone bullshit.Oso Dorado wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 3:55 amNBA Centers are similar to. QBs in that teams would take more chances for them, particularly so in the past. The game, indeed, changed and while Wilt and Kareem would still be forces, they wouldn't be as dominant now as they were.
Era to era comparisons are always speculative, but I don't think I'm saying anything all that radical.

I think Akeem is an an underrated big man. That dude could move.
This has him #5. I guess that is about right.

Wally's boys, Petro, McIIvaine, Sene, Swift, Booth round out the bottom 5 of all time.

I would put Hakeem and Shaq over Wilt and Kareem.D-train wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 6:28 pmI think Akeem is an an underrated big man. That dude could move.

Re: More on Clowney
Come on, you really think Chamberlain could average 50 points and 25 rebounds a game over a season if he played today, see a 100 point game again? Nobody is going to dominate basketball the way he did in 1962, including him
Re: More on Clowney
And Kareem didn't dominate Hakeem every game. The stats you posted are meaningless. Kareem was playing a full decade before OlajuwanOso Dorado wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 12:31 amNice try, but they played a fair number of games against each other being in same conference.ThePro wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 11:38 pmJust because he did it one game.Oso Dorado wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 10:55 pm

Re: More on Clowney
Hakeem Olajuwon had a stretch where he was as dominate as any player ever, he certainly is in the class as Jabbar. And to think he grew up in another country, didn't play basketball until he was 15, unbelievable athlete
