So Earl really was a nutty jerk when he did the "come get me" thing, blamed Bobby Wagner for a loss, and flicked off the head coach that let him play his style? Who knew?

Yeah but like AB you didn't really hear a peep out of them for the first 5-6 years of their careers which means either all the success and fame and hype got to their heads or its CTE related or both.

I think he was also spoiled by the freedom and autonomy that goes with playing for PC. He perhaps started to think he was owed all that for what he did on the field rather than appreciating it.

I think Pro said it not that long ago, these guys don't know what they have until it's gone. Maybe guys like Bennett and Sherman trash talked on their way out because they were really pissed they had to leave? Upset that their bullshit finally pushed them out? Maybe ET was that mad because he knew he would never have it this good again and he blew it?

You would like to believe that this would be a cautionary tale, that we would have more Wagners and Wilsons than Shermans, Bennetts and ETs. But I doubt it. Those three on defense had a huge part in destroying a dynasty. I put 33% of the blame on miscreants like Baldwin, Bennett, Sherman and ET, 33% on head scratching coaching shit...like holding on to an OC and O Line Coach too long, having one in charge of half the offense and the other in charge of the other half, calling a slant play on the goal line, etc., and 33% on mysterious draft day decisions...especially on Thursday night.

Take away one of those things and we probably have at least two rings, imagine what happens if you take away two of them? This team was poised for a huge run. Such a shame. Two years ago when we tore it down I said it reminded me of the 7 and 9 season right before we took off. And we made the playoffs the next two years, but had nothing for a playoff run. I sure hope that changes. It really looks as though it could.

Sorry, sort of hijacked the thread. Bottom line? I agree...ET is a wackadoo that somehow PC and this team were able to keep quiet for some time. Being able to win with such crazy MFers as Baldwin, Sherman, ET and Bennett is probably a big reason why PC believes he can change everyone. He is probably right more often than he is wrong! I'm not sure it makes it always worth the risk though.

I always disliked the resentment towards Wilson. Sherman picked of Garopporno twice and practice and pretty sure he didn't tell him he " Fucking sucks" like he famously told Wilson.

Yep, they couldn't handle it that the team was no longer all about the defense. They blew a 10 point lead in that Super Bowl like Brady was playing seven on seven in shorts. No choice but to blame the play call and the QB. Not black enough? Good Lord. The funny thing is that everyone usually points at Sherman and Bennett, and I think Baldwin was the worst of the bunch. That guy would have been a 3rd or 4th receiver in most offenses, yet could never shut his mouth or ever admit that Russ was the engine.

This ^^^^^^ Classic when Brandon Marshall called him out on his bullshit.

It just sucks that this is how a great player like Thomas turns out, and Bennett and Baldwin before him. It's like Jerry Seinfeld said, with those guys we were cheering for their clothes. GO, #29 SHIRT!!!

At the same time I'm wondering how bad all those shots to the head have been for Thomas, he's supposed to be older and more mature, but he's not just going in the opposite direction, but exponentially devolving.

Yeah, it really is a quick trip for him and AB. Brown has taken some hits in his day, maybe hasn't taken as many head jolts as a guy like Thomas that flies around the field throwing his body around like a missile, but remember the hit Burrifect put on AB a few years back? I get frustrated by this kind of BS, but then remember all the shit I've seen and read about head trauma and am left to wonder.
