Hawks O line ranked 23rd by your favorite rating service
Re: Hawks O line ranked 23rd by your favorite rating service
PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP:
Left Tackle: Duane Brown
Left Guard: Mike Iupati
Center: Justin Britt
Right Guard: D.J. Fluker
Right Tackle: Germain Ifedi
Aside from veteran tackle Duane Brown’s Brown’s impressive 82.3 overall grade, each of the Seahawks’ projected starters failed to top a 65.0 grade in 2018. This is a line that returns almost all of its pieces from a year ago, with guard Mike Iupati as the primary newcomer, and that doesn’t quite bode well for running backs Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny or quarterback Russell Wilson. Center Justin Britt owned the team’s best pass-blocking efficiency among qualifying offensive linemen in 2018 but still ranked just 24th among 39 centers.

How could the #1 rushing attack have the 23rd rated offensive line? 3rd most points in their history and they are doing this with a below average Oline? I don't get their ratings system at all.

Looking at the teams ahead of us there are a handful of guys I coveted in the draft or FA....but it kills me that the Saints have two guys at Tackle that we passed on.

There's more than Armstead and Ramczyk on that list. Cam Robinson is another . Hell they credit Mark Glowinski with solidifying the Colts line. Oh well Tom Cable is gone.. Hawks will continue to make good decisions as long as Solari is here.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:24 pmLooking at the teams ahead of us there are a handful of guys I coveted in the draft or FA....but it kills me that the Saints have two guys at Tackle that we passed on.

Cable probably didn't want Ryan Ramczyk because his crossover dribble was sub par or he wasn't a very good rebounder.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:24 pmLooking at the teams ahead of us there are a handful of guys I coveted in the draft or FA....but it kills me that the Saints have two guys at Tackle that we passed on.

Cam Robinson is the one that kills me... Passed on him not once but three freaking times.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:52 pmCable probably didn't want Ryan Ramczyk because his crossover dribble was sub par or he wasn't a very good rebounder.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:24 pmLooking at the teams ahead of us there are a handful of guys I coveted in the draft or FA....but it kills me that the Saints have two guys at Tackle that we passed on.

Yeah, I am thrilled that Cable is ruining someone else's offense, just like I am thrilled that Bevell is now doing the same. But it kills me that our FO either flubbed up that much or put that much stock in what Cable wanted. How long could Cable be wrong before Pete and John took the guys they wanted and not converted TEs, DTs and Basketball players?

i think there is this disconnect between what an Oline does and how these guys try rate them. There is a purpose to an Oline. Its to create this group of guys that make a football team able to score. Its pretty easy to grade really, you look at the scoreboard. These guys have come along and have tried doing it by taking each lineman and evaluate them separately and then put the line back together again to grade it. Sorry but doesn't make sense to me, or rather who cares. If the Hawks want to use the five worst linemen in the NFL by the PPF eyes and get them lead the league in rushing who cares? I have said before, I do not think these rankings speak to what a football team actually does, which is to create a line. Its the world of click bait, it gives us something to talk about. I do not think PC or any other coach give a rats ass what PPF thinks about Olines, it has nothing to do with what they do. That is why not think its analytics, they are not trying to dig into what makes a team successful, its not actual research. Its just collecting some data, make a list and put it on the internet. There is nothing there that speaks to why team is more successful at scoring points than others. And i do not think PPF is interested in finding out
