speaking of genious'...seems Cable's Oline in Oakland has been playing pretty well lately
Funny what can happen when you stop trying to convert Basketball players, Tight Ends and D Tackles!

All I need to know is the guys who were coached by Cable here were immediately better the next year.

Speaking of coaching genius, pinch me, but i think Carroll actually outcoached whiz kid Shanahan last night. Given their tremendous lead in the standings, the absolute ONLY they lose the division is if Seattle sweeps them. So with under 2 minutes left in OT, the way your D has played and Hawks with a dicey kicker, all you have to do is run the ball to ensure the tie. instead 3 straight incompletions later, you serve up another opportunity to the league MVP.

Good point, but it isn't the first time Shannahan has seemed to fall in love with the passing game. It does seem more strange to fall in love with it with Jimmy G and the Niners pass catchers than with Matty Ice and Julio and the gang.

That being said, if I was a Niner fan, I would have been irritated if they simply ran the ball and settled for the tie. BUT....we had done a great job on defense against them.

Not sure how that equates to being out coached. Playing for a tie would have been unacceptable.

I thought that was what PC was doing when he punted the last time in OT but he definitely outcoached me there. Our D was just so shut down at key times last night and that was another example of it.

unacceptable to whom? the league office because they dont know what to make out of
an undefeated team with a tie? or the fans who have to give up the dream of a perfect season for the increased chance of #1 overall seed, 1st round bye and HFA throughout? but it didnt have to be all throws, or all runs or kneeldowns - lot of room in-between, yet just like the SB with Atlanta, outsmarting himself there imho. (and dont get me wrong, i think along with Carroll & Payton he's near the top after belichek, ahead of McVay.

I was really pulling for them to score the TD late, and then miss the two point conversion they never should have needed. That might have been the dumbest thing I've ever seen! The Kicker had just made one from fifty earlier in the game!
