There is the cap to consider, might want to get the big one out of the way first

Maybe, maybe not. Might want to do Brown's first so you know the exact max you can offer Jamal.

Adams is, theoretically, the future of the club - a player you build around. Brown isn't. his shelf life is almost expired. If Seattle does indeed go to a quicker passing game, they can replace Brown - quicker passing game takes stress off the left tackle who does not have to hold his blocks for so long. Brown has no leverage here - probably just more media pot-stirring when all Brown probably really wants is to not have to put wear and tear on his body in camp. Didn't Jones do this every year? With Brown sitting it gives the kids reps and a chance to learn that position and create depth - that's a big value because Brown ain't likely to play all 1100 games (due to the NFL's new expansion).

You don't think Brown wants an extension and pay raise this season? Come on.

Did you see Stone is having a good camp. Maybe they are considering that as well....

That's why they have leverage. Look, I like Brown, I just don't believe he is irreplaceable. As these seasons continue to get longer and longer, there is likely a higher value to having more depth versus superstars. Attrition is a reality - ask the 49ers - and if Brown can be replaced with a cheaper option with more upside and a longer career in front of him - I'd seriously consider that as an option. I lean into depth as a higher value when they play 82 games a year. Brown is old and does get injured. That's not a knock on him - just a reality. A pay raise? eh, I'm gonna pass on that. Spend the money elsewhere. If Brown can be had for around 5-6 million - that's a conversation I'd have. Outside of that - it's diminishing returns.

How about they grow a pair and tell Adams "take our offer and be grateful", because you aren't helping the team by eating up cap space that could be used to sign better players at other positions. What's he gonna do? He can't hold out and he has to show up and play hard if he wants to get top safety money with another team next year. You can't tell me they couldn't do something significant with that extra 20 mil in cap room next season.

Cut your losses Johnny boy!

I said it earlier, Aurora saying it now. Jones did this every year. Sorry, this is no news.

The perception, though, is that nothing will happen with Brown’s contract until the Seahawks get something done with Adams.

Ah yes Jamal Adams, the gift that just keeps on giving.
Big Mike, is that you? You used to post on the Times.
