Judge orders Goodell/Refs to be Deposed in NFCCG Lawsuit
Re: Judge orders Goodell/Refs to be Deposed in NFCCG Lawsuit
What makes this worse - be it incompetence or bias - is the long term ramifications. Now the NFL is going to review even MORE plays - meaning more stoppages - turning NFL games into the last three minutes of an NBA game - where there is no more flow or momentum because of the endless stoppages and delays. This is great for the NFL - it means more commercials and more revenue for them - but it's making the game unwatchable for football fans. Games are too long as it is now - this will just make it worse. That non-call(s) will have an impact beyond that one game - and it's a negative one. The League just keeps shooting themselves in the foot - and their arrogance to think it won't matter to the fan. Death by a thousand cuts for the League.

Yep, be careful what you wish for. Talk about a knee jerk reaction. Even with the bad call, the Saints had a hundred opps to win that game and blew it.auroraave wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 3:33 pmWhat makes this worse - be it incompetence or bias - is the long term ramifications. There future Hall of Famer threw an INT on their first possession in OT. Can you imagine the crap we'd have gotten if we had thrown an INT in OT in Super Bowl XL, yet still complained about all the calls that screwed us? And we had several....AND it was the damn Super Bowl.

And what exactly should the NFL done if not move to make PIs review-able. Public half time Executions of officials that make bad calls?

You do realize that, if the refs made the right, and easy, and obvious calls, that the game never goes to overtime. The Saints basically run the clock out. Not sure how hard this is to get. The overtime int and all these other alleged 'opportunities", real or imagined, don't happen - because the game is won in regulation. You do get that, right? Drew Brees being a HOF QB has, literally, nothing to do with anything and is completely relevant. Seattle, and everyone else, DID complain - the refs even apologized for their horrific officiating which changed the entire outcome of the game - which literally proves my entire point - because it happened again in the Saints game.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:26 pmThere future Hall of Famer threw an INT on their first possession in OT. The NFL absolutely bumbled the SB (the ref admitted it), then they did it again in the NFCCG. You are literally proving the entire point - which is their inability to officiate fairly and/or objectively, is grounds for a lawsuit. You are looking at the Prosecution's exhibit A and B. The consumer is not getting a fair deal. That's the whole point of the lawsuit. Their product is not as advertised and people are being fiscally damaged by buying tickets based on the expectation or fairness and unbiased officiating. Maybe this concept is lost on you. It borders on fraud/ false advertising.
You guys must super excited to have more commercials to watch - as a direct result of NFL ineptness/bias officiating. You'll be even more excited to know even more are on the way. Nothing like a 4 hour NFL game - 3/4 of which is commercials.

You missed my point. We were told that -
1. The OPI was no big deal
2. Hagen being offsides two plays in a row, one resulting in a holding cal on us, was no big deal
3. Rothlisberger snapping the ball three seconds after the play clock while they tried to run the clock out, was no big deal
4. The "low block" call on a QB making an effing tackle, was no big deal
5. and a few I have probably forgotten, were no big deal
Yet, one call, game altering or not, is not. As I stated, had we had the ball in OT and thrown a pick we would have been shut down before ANY complaint. I am not saying the Saints don't have a gripe, but a damn law suite?
