Gardner Minshew
Re: Gardner Minshew
You've watched Brooks lay the wood and saw lifeless? I don't see lifeless when I see DK get into fights either, maybe not smart, but not lifeless.
Just lifeless in general, no diss on Brooks or DK, or Bobby.
But I clearly didn't see the hunger and gladiator mentality of our LOB years. Pedestrian play-calling, RW wasn't running or creating in the same way, lots of giveaways on D on third-down, PC's agonizing refusal to adapt...to me it just all added up to team that has been pretty boring for a while now, despite some very encouraging young players.

I get that. I think the entire team was a bit beat down last year, and I am curious how beat down the staff was from years of some off season discontent? I mean, it seems every off season since 2nd and goal has had some kind of controversy. I am holding out hope that we will see some energy, from both some new young and hungry players and from a coaching staff that has some new blood and a lot to prove.maoling wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 4:36 pm

Who would you like to see them go after for QB this season, place-holder or not? Years ago, I know the Hawks really liked Andy Dalton, but he doesn't seem like much of an answer now, either.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 4:57 pmI get that. Re: Gardner Minshew
Some guys in here have made interesting suggestions. Huntley is interesting, as is Mariotta. Can kind of see a guy that plays that style fitting here. I don't know the price tag, but one of those guys to groom a young guy? We probably were missing the playoffs even with Russ, so why not set back to the clocks to Pete's first years here? I do like a couple of guys in this draft, so if we draft one this year, let him sit...but if they like a guy next year, load up on other spots this year and grab that guy next year.
QB is so crazy. All we hear is that Trevor Lawrence was the most NFL ready guy, and he looked about as bad as any of the rookies last year. I would like to rip that bandaid off before we should be competitive. TBH, I am mostly just excited to see what they will do, I don't pretend to EVER know what Pete and John actually will do though!
Re: Gardner Minshew
Minshew would be great if we were going to tear it down and rebuild. He would keep the fans entertained for a year so they wouldn't realize how bad the team is, lol. I dont see them trading for him though - is he really an upgrade over Lock? He'd cost a draft pick at this point and not sure it would be worth it.

Pete wants somebody to hand the ball off, be a threat with the read option and be able to throw the ball deep on play action. I don't really think that Manchew fits that profile. He is more of a get the ball out quick on short passes type of guy.

Yeah, so doesn't Huntley seem like a good fit as a placeholder for Willis in year one? I am not going to pretend to know a ton about Willis, but since the afternoon we traded Wilson, I have seen a lot of good stuff on him. Seems like a great fit.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 6:13 pmPete wants somebody to hand the ball off, be a threat with the read option and be able to throw the ball deep on play action. He looked real good in relief of Jackson last year. Of the options, he might be the one I like the most. I would still be great if they drafted Willis, and as I said before, I like the kid from Louisville, but am not even sure if he is IN this draft class. I am pretty sure he is a Redshirt Senior, so might not be available until next year. BUT, that said, he is a guy that looks at times like a fit, and can probably be had later?maoling wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 6:21 pmHuntley Highlights. He looks good also.
