JSN has 9 receptions, 50% more than Lockett. Returns are irrelevant since he hasn't got that opportunity.
3 TD returns in 3 games is irrelevant? Lockett wasn't even supposed to be a receiver when he was drafted, so he didn't get THAT opportunity.

Lockett came in and had an enormous impact in his first 3 games. Saying 3 more receptions is somehow better than 3 kick return TDs is nuts.
Do you think JSN was pouting on the sidelines because he was upset about not getting Return opportunities?? Not relevant in regards to the point of the comparison. People have said he has had a disappointing start and someone said he has more catches than Lockett did his first three games and he did. End of story.
The point of comparison was that you said he had a better start to his career than Lockett. You didn't say "he's caught more passes thru 3 games." I would say it is objectively better to have 3 return TDs than 3 short-yardage catches.

End of story.

Yeah your are right JSN sucks as a returner. Zero yards and Zero TDs! Can't believe we drafted him!

it's a mystery why JSN hasn't gotten more targets. Advanced stat folks were posting that JSN is open by a wider margin than just about any WR in the NFL, but he's not getting targets. I assume a lot of it has to do with having 2 or 3 TE sets to help protect with the tackles out, with a side helping of DK and Lockett just being so damn reliable.
Nothing's a mystery with Pete at the helm. Um, wait, scratch that, there's plenty of mystery with Pete at the helm.

Think it's probably more Shane Waldron responsibility how many touches a receiver gets

It should be, but is it? I don't think anyone outside of the organization really knows.

Since when does "Mr Take It Up With Pete" say stuff like this?

If Pete wants something changed, he will change it. We have seen that enough times in the past. I mean, I am almost positive Schotty didn't want to change a few years ago, and the disconnect between Russ, Schotty and Pete seemed to show this all too well.

Sure, he will change something, but that's not telling Waldron how many catches everybody should get.

From Bob's Mailbag:
@KratzeLuigi asked: Worried about JSN (Jaxon Smith-Njigba) involvement/production?

As the highest-drafted receiver of the Pete Carroll era, hopes are obviously high for Smith-Njigba, and certainly that there will be more than one catch for 10 yards, his output against Carolina. I wouldn’t read too much into his snap count — a season-low 33 and 44% — DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett also had season-low snap counts as the Seahawks went with a lot of two-tight end sets and a run-heavy scheme in the second half.

But if you want to be concerned, there is this assessment this week from PFF noting that “six of his nine catches so far have come behind the line of scrimmage. Smith-Njigba is struggling to separate downfield and doesn’t yet have a good rapport with quarterback Geno Smith.”

Here are a couple of counterpoints — Smith-Njigba barely played last season at Ohio State, limited to three games due to a hamstring injury; at 21, he is the youngest player on the roster; he obviously missed some time late in camp and then was limited for some more of it after suffering a fracture in his wrist and having surgery; and it can sometimes take receivers some time to find their way. Smith-Njigba has nine receptions for 57 yards on 14 targets.

In his rookie season, Tyler Lockett had six catches for 51 yards in his first three games and 12 for 138 in his first six being used in a pretty similar way as Smith-Njigba, playing at the time with two veteran receivers in Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse as well as tight end Jimmy Graham. Smith-Njigba is basically the one new face in what is a pretty veteran WR corps with Lockett, DK Metcalf and three returning tight ends.
