Why is there an empty week between preseason and week 1 of regular season?

Because the players threw a fit about the added regular season game. No way were they going to start camp and pre season later, and I can’t imagine having games on Labor Day weekend was all that appealing. So they removed a game from the preseason. Would be interesting to know why they didn’t just start the preseason games a week later though.

So close to getting the SB to Presidents day weekend so most people get Monday off. Just do it.
