Re: Hawks vs. Bills Game Thread 10/27/24
Pete Carroll finished 7-9 in his first year... at week 9 they were 4-4 and were coming off losses of 33-3 and 41-7 to the Raiders and Giants.
I'm certain people were questioning if the team was improving.
This stuff takes time. Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman matured into all-world players... it didn't happen right away.

Haven't read any posts on here yet - but Imma take a wild guess...
FIRE SCHNEIDER NOW!!!
FIRE MACDONALD NOW!!!!
FIRE GRUBB, HIRE HIM AGAIN, JUST TO FIRE HIM TWICE!!!!
BENCH GENO NOW!!!!
HOWELL NOW!!!
FIRE EVERYONE NOW!!!
SELL THE TEAM!!!
Let's completely disregard a few things:
There needs to be some roster churn.
Seattle has NOT ignored the oline. That's utter nonsense. We had the best tackle duo in the league - until injury.
Geno does not suck. He's fine. There are no more Brady's (except in the booth, apparently).
New coaching staff ain't making a super bowl run in season one.
While this game was an absolute embarrassment for the ages - the QUALITY OF THE GAMES ACROSS THE LEAGUE has declined considerably for a number of factors - and you can start with too many games, lack of real practice, players completely unmotivated about anything outside their "brand" and instagram accounts; the controlling of games via penalty, and the influx of wildly unprepared talent coming in from college.
Seattle is in a mild transition at the same time the league is in transition - both showing decline. How many stand out teams are there? Maybe 4? KC, Ravens, maybe Buffalo, it's a shit show across the league.
I find the games hard to watch overall = four hours of mind numbing stoppages to pimp phizer products and penalties. No one coming up from the minors is prepared - particularly on the oline. It's league wide - almost NO team boasts a great oline. Pay attention to the college game - you are seeing the effects in real time. Remember - the NFL is not about quality football games anymore, it's about selling products, gambling, sponsorships and TV revenue, PERIOD.

Karl was a good coach, but not in the playoffs. Oh MAN, did the Sonics underachieve, not to mention if he puts Payton on MJ in game one we probably beat the 72-10 Bulls. And Karl continued to not be a good playoff coach in his subsequent coaching jobs.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 3:37 pmPete's last couple of years were both above .500 and one was a playoff season.acctingman wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:22 pmwell, Pete's last couple years weren't very good, so a change was needed.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:18 pmThis team and this coach is a joke. He'll be gone in less than 3 years. Fired a hall of famer for this garbage.
I'll never understand how people get tired of winning. Reminds me of when George Karl got ran out of town.

1994 implosion vs. Denver was horrible. Speaking of Horrible the last four of my assigned work password is 2008, the worst year by far in Seattle Sports history. Last four of my debit card is 5454. 1 in 9,999 chance of that happening. Sports Gods aren't happy with me being miserable they feel the need to twist the knife.

I'd say its safe to say the Geno experiment is done though - he has to be cut loose at the end of the year. The reason being is his group wants a raise and wants to be paid close to 50mill/year - he isn't worth it. I'm not even sure he's worth the 30 we are paying him now and with the upcoming salary of 30-35mill/year for DK - something is going to have to give. Geno is a better-than-average QB but he has no ability to put the team on his shoulders and carry it through to a win. A lot of stuff has to go right for him to win games and while our D is still average at best, he can't score 30+ every game to cover them.

He needs to look back but he doesn't know when to do it. If he doesn't time it correctly the WR is going to beat him. It's about reading the eyes of the receiver, turning when the ball is there to be caught. He can't just turn to see where it is. He has to anticipate where it is and turn to catch it

How good of a playoff coach was Paul Westphal for the Sonics. Remind where that franchise is playing its games now.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 9:42 pmKarl was a good coach, but not in the playoffs. well, Pete's last couple years weren't very good, so a change was needed.

All you guys who were celebrating when Pete was fired are about to find out how wrong you were. MacDonald is in way over his head. He is barely out of diapers and built a reputation riding the coattails of the Harbaughs. He has never had any real responsibility himself. I love Grubb but he is a college coach who has no experience with the professional game and what it takes to win in the NFL. He was at freaking Fresno State 3 years ago. I brought all of this up before the season and you guys just brushed it off. This is a giant cluster and its going to go up in flames.
