... and Milroe had by far the better supporting cast.

The point is they already invested in a QB that will be the starter here for at least the next two years. And they have two other QBs that have been starters with other teams. Drafting a developmental QB on day two that won't even be able to compete for a starting role until 2027 shouldn't have been a higher priority than trying to address glaring weaknesses at other positions on the roster. As it stands , this team has one of the weakest WR groups in the league, no depth at ILB, and the NTs are Brandon Pili and Quinton Bohanna (unless they put Murphy out of position again). I'll go peal a banana while you ponder over how this D is going to be any better than last year's.
Peel away, if JS hits paydirt again and is replacing Darnold in two years with Lamar Jackson 2.0 I doubt many will be lamenting not using the pick on the defense this season

I was thinking about him and if he just repeats his 2023 season he is likely a 1st rounder and we don't get him. But unlike a true development project that hasn't been good yet like Richardson we KNOW he can do it, he just has to get back to his 2023 self. Might be easier said than done but heck of a like better chance of happening because he has already done it.

From the times article, it's interesting, draft or trade for a guy and get to know them, I'm liking this guy, the leadership stuff was legitimate...
Milroe won the William V. Campbell Trophy in 2024, which is awarded each year to the college player who had the best combination of academic success, on-field performance, and leadership. The award is also widely known as the “Academic Heisman.”
“Not too many people can say this, but I can say this proudly, I never lost a game back-to-back in my entire life playing football. Why I mention that is because of course you’re going to have failure, you’re going to have lessons throughout your time of playing football. It’s how you regroup and how you regroup from adversity. My theme of my whole life is next play mentality. Not leaning on failures to drive me. That’s something that’s been emphasized from my whole time of playing football.” — Milroe when asked what lessons he learned from his final season playing at Alabama.
Milroe is an explosive athlete who is very capable outside the pocket, but he lacks accuracy, touch and decision-making when he’s inside the pocket. A lack of anticipation and timing leads to interceptions and contested throws to intermediate areas of the field. He has an NFL arm, but he might need to fine-tune his footwork and delivery to improve accuracy on all three levels. He can get through his reads when he’s confident and feels protected but becomes predictable and easier for defenses to manipulate when he’s rattled. He’s built like a Will linebacker, runs like a receiver and is a threat to hit the home run on called runs and scrambles. Milroe was a much better deep-ball passer in 2023, but his 2024 regression makes it harder to project success from the pocket at a high enough rate to become a capable NFL starter. A strong arm and elite speed will have teams intrigued, but if he doesn’t make it as a starter, it’s incumbent upon his team to find a way to get the ball in his hands with packaged plays.” — NFL.com

Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes 9 and 1/4 inches. Milroe 9 and 3/8 inches.

Dak has some of the largest hands in the league and lead the league in fumbles twice.

I was involved with numerous Coug sorority and dorm girls in the '70s and into the '80s, and many of them had small hands also. I think it is racist to judge a person on the size of their hands.
