And it comes down to this: Do Pete Carroll and John Schneider truly believe this post-Legion of Boom, post-Avril-Bennett defense and team is one piece, Clowney, away from a Super Bowl?

that to me is weak, no team is one player away from a SB, and the Hawks are definitely in the mix. You do not go into a season with RW in his prime writing off the season. Its going to come down to relative cost, and the ability to get a deal done. JS wants to be in on every deal, if he can get one done he will

No they can still make the trade after that. That is mainly for cuts. Say next week or later Hawks trade for Clowney. In 2019, the deadline for NFL teams to cut their rosters down to 53 players is Saturday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. ET. That gives them just under two days on the heels of their final preseason games to make their decisions. Of course, in reality, most teams will have only a couple decisions to make; the majority of NFL rosters are already set.

Obviously this has been my obsession lately. I just find it very interesting. I'm not confident he will end up here. I have been scouring Twitter , internet anything for breaking news. Want it to be over actually....lol
This is from a Miami Dolphin fan page... They think Hawks are the favorites. Something is going on because Why won't he sign his tender?

Re: Are the Hawks waiting to trade for.. .. Clowney?
From Clowney's perspective, it makes ZERO sense to go to Miami, with no playoff chances and not a big market for showcase, and they will be behind every game so no pass rush opportunity, in his prime contract earning year. Playing for Philly or Seattle, both very good teams with rowdy crowds, is the polar opposite. Houston wants player(s) in return, who themselves would need a bit of acclimation time, so want it done sooner than later. but Clowney can hold them hostage refusing to sign tender till last moment (dont think he'd risk losing game check). So all that adds up in Hawks favor vs. Miami, not sure where Philly is in this. trouble is that all the positions Houston supposedly wants (OL, WR, RB) are trouble spots depth-wise due to injuries, though if they like one of the RBs i could see one going in a package (not Carson of course, and Penny would preclude any draft pick). maybe CJ's showing last Saturday was enough to tempt them into taking a 3rd instead of a 2nd rounder in package. or Homer perhaps.ThePro wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 5:52 pmObviously this has been my obsession lately. They say the best deal is the one you don't make. If I'm Clowney I find a way to force a trade to here or Philly. The thing in his favor is its his contract year so logically speaking he's motivated to have a big year. Logically he picked probably the best 2 spots any player can go too. I mean shit just look at both fan bases. The energy he would bring would be undeniable. What Pete or Doug could get out of him remains a mystery. Don't know if being friends with Brown tips the scales in our favor but it does help. Again picks are just picks, not every pick is gonna make it. I'm just imagining him & Reed on the same field at the same time. Oh boy. Think Pete & John are playing this one close to the vest. Agree with the notion they wanted more draft picks, hence the trade to KC. Now that I think about it, it does make sense.
Re: Are the Hawks waiting to trade for.. .. Clowney?
Danny O'Neill has confirmed what we've be saying on here...
“Jadeveon Clowney wants to be a Seahawk,” O’Neil said. “How much do the Seahawks want him? That’s really the operative question. As it stands, it’s pretty clear the Houston Texans have a deal lined up with the Miami Dolphins. They would like to accept that trade. They would like for Jadeveon Clowney to be sufficiently enamored with the Miami Dolphins that he says, ‘OK, I’ll sign my franchise tender, I’ll show up and play for the Dolphins.’ The fact that it has not happened, the fact that he has not signed, should hold out some hope for everyone. He wants to come to Seattle or Philadelphia. Should the Seahawks up their offer to try to get the Texans to accept it?”
Complicating matters even more was a Wednesday report that Clowney is perfectly willing to hold out and miss time.

Depends on the asking price.
RB - Yes
Draft Pick - Yes
WR - Yes
O.L. - Might be a deal breaker

Depends on the lineman. It seems like the Dolphins are the problem more than the asking price. Clowney and his representatives need to make it clear to them it ain't happening. And if by some miracle I'm forced there I won't be resigning there.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 5:51 amDepends on the asking price.
