That being said, what a game! I read a TB blogger, something like, they had been watching TB for fifty years and they couldn't remember a more exciting game than that. And for as much as I might hate losing, at least go down swinging. Of the things I didn't expect from this team, being that entertaining is one of them. Terms of the NFL, that's what they want, entertainment

And if there was ever a team capable of losing in the most entertaining way possible, look no further than SEA.

and there's the homefield advantage deal, you can't put this one on the crowd. Its really is crazy how they can't win at home these days, MM likes that, "come to life" phrase
I like that, put them in hotel rooms in Seattle
"It's really important that we play better at home. It's been an important emphasis since I was hired. Hasn't come to life yet. We're determined to make it come to life."

From the outside looking in, it's impossible to say what it is - but our best guess is that there's something Macdonald is doing to prep for road games that he's not doing in Seattle. It would be extreme to sequester the Seahawks in a hotel during the season - but if they keep on losing at home something drastic will have to be done.

There are things that could be nit picked, specifically the play to Milroe. I will say this, I was PISSED when he played every snap of the last pre-season game and they made no effort to have him run ANY plays he might actually run during the season. I was told it was because they wanted to see if he could get his team in and out of the huddle. Fine, you found that out. BUT, if that was ALL you needed to see from him, if you didn't need to see if he could execute any of the cute bullshit you were going to install for him each week? Then take that shit out and leave your fucking starting QB on the field unless he is hurt or the game is a blowout. We've seen NOTHING from Milroe to suggest he should be a part of the game plan for a game that actually matters. And MAYBE? They'd have known that if they had made any effort in that last pre-season game to find out if that shit works?Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 2:24 pmSo what's the feeling here, was this loss more about lack of depth or poor coaching?
Other than that? We got beat by a team, BARELY beat by a team, that seems to me to be healtier than us and is most likely a better football team than us right now. It's frustrating that this shit happens at home, when we used to have such a huge advantage. But I still think we have priced out the rabid fans. It's extremely expensive to go to games now, so even the Seahawk fans that go? Are mostly rich Executive types that don't sit there and scream their faces off trying to make a difference. I know my working class buddies that have tickets are always on Social Media trying to sell them more often than they go.

I suppose it's a good thing that MacDonald is taking the blame here, but what does it all mean going forward? The Darnold INT cost them the game.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 3:47 pmMM took the blame for the loss, and I am willing to give it to him. I think what you had was the Seahawks thin in the secondary and TB scheming to take advantage of it. To me, that was more than getting outplayed on a talent level, defenders simply were not there in the secondary, that was MM not responding. As they say, not having his players in position to win. And there was the tackling, which I will credit Seaside for bringing up.
when guys are as open as that, its on Mike“I have to do better with our defensive game plan, in our execution, and how we call it,” Macdonald told reporters following the loss. “When you put a performance like that, it means that I didn’t prepare them well enough.”
The Seahawks head coach appeared upset about a lot of aspects from the play of his defense Sunday. But Macdonald particularly criticized his unit’s tackling.
“We’re not doing the things that we’re trained to do, and when it doesn’t come to life on the field,” Macdonald added. “I’m responsible… it didn’t come to life today. So, it’s my responsibility. But we’ll definitely be looking at that. We missed way too many tackles.”on the injuries“They did a great job of scheming stuff open. We obviously have to play better,” Macdonald said. “I mean, it goes both ways. We knew that they were a great offense. We just didn’t get it done.
“When you have guys open like that, that can’t happen. And that’s my job to make sure that doesn’t happen.”“The expectation is the same no matter who’s out there. But again, we’ve got to design better things, our pressures have to be more locked in, we have to call them at better times,” Macdonald added. “All of those things. Our pressure coverage was very weak today. That’s something that we have to look at.”
I mean, McVay took the blame for his team's loss against the Niners, but was it really his fault? The kicker left 4 points on the field.
At what point is it coaching, and at what point is it sloppy play and poor execution?

You can look at like Woolen getting beat, that pretty clearly points to poor player execution. The deal yesterday and I would have to watch more closely but it wasn't so much guys getting beat, it was more a defender not being anywhere near, not in the picture. Sure the players are responsible for executing the defensive play properly but it does seem to speak to confusion that could have been better dealt with by coaching.douche wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 6:12 pmI suppose it's a good thing that MacDonald is taking the blame here, but what does it all mean going forward? that, and I am impressed he explains it, its more than just a blanket "I"m responsible" deal. I had been thinking the same thing. It was strange that they were so open.

Jobe got beat like a drum on that super dy duper deep ball. The rookie sensation ran right by him.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 6:26 pmYou can look at like Woolen getting beat, that pretty clearly points to poor player execution. Yeah sure the secondary looked bad yesterday, but the biggest difference between this game and the other's was no pass rush.

Yep, when you can rush four and cover with seven and still make the QB uncomfortable? The game is a lot different. We might not have the front to do that, or, as you said? Maybe Tampa's O Line is just that good?
Re: Holy Shit there is a Game going on Game thread.
I suppose. But in the case of McVay, he took the high road even though the reality is that the kicker cost them 4 points. McVay doesn't kick the ball, that's the kicker's job. And I'm not sure how you coach kicking. You just want a guy to put it through the uprights. If the snap and hold are good, there should be no excuse.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 6:26 pmYou can look at like Woolen getting beat, that pretty clearly points to poor player execution. So back to MacDonald... is the coaching fuzzy, or is it the players? Probably a bit of both?
