Who are the other villains in the run game besides Barton? Can't be just him given how bad we are?
Well, Dave Wyman has his issues. For one he is the biggest Seahawk brown noser in history. OK, that his harsh, but you see what I am saying. That said, he has been very critical of how our defensive players handle their assignments.

I was driving home during the first half last Sunday, and he said after just about every defensive snap how we didn't fill this gap or that gap, how we failed to get the RB turned, players attacked with their shoulders either squared when they should be turned, or vice versa and he was at a loss for words why we NEVER had anyone outside on the bootlegs. Somehow? They don't understand their assignments.

I think the run of good play was amplified by shit offenses, and the bad defense we saw at the beginning of the year and now is what we are. The Cardinals are maybe the least disciplined offense in the NFL and they are lead by a fucking juvenile, and I don't even mean their immature QB that refuses to watch film. The Chargers are about as over hyped as anyone I have ever seen, short of the Giants, who happened to be the other team we played in that four game run that made us believe the defense had figured it out. Non of those offenses are A. Very good or B. In any way shape or form well coached. Piss Poor Combo. Of the three teams we played those four games, Herbert is the only QB that can threaten you in the passing game without running around and playing school yard ball, and he has somehow become check down Charlie.

They either aren't smart enough to run this new scheme, don't give a shit what they are supposed to do and are doing what ever they want, or the scheme is just to complex, which would basically fall back to them not being smart enough. Add in that our tackling isn't all that great and you have an issue. But, like I told you guys all summer long, Geno will save us! LOL
The problem with Seattle's defense isn't "someone sucks", it's the fundamental fact that this team, and especially the defense is in a transitional stage. They have purgeD the vets and high salaries - and have begun the rebuild from the back end forward, with the exception of Brooks who is the future. My God they have SIX ROOKIES starting. This next draft will 100% focus on the front seven - the LB room is thin as is the front end. You cannot overhaul every single aspect of a team in one off season - despite what some people on here demand. Winning a few games does not mean the job is done. This team is AT LEAST a year or two away - despite what peoples expectations are. That is just the way it is. They are not making a championship run this year. Next season will have a plethora of new talent on defense - that, combined with this year's draft are, the foundations going forward. Anyone wringing their hands at this team, sitting at 7-5 against all odds, needs to get a grip. They are WAY over achieving and THAT is what you should be marveling at and they have NOT reached their ceiling yet. SF will CRUSH seattle right now - they are better everywhere. That doens't mean "Seattle sucks!" It means SF has had years of building their team while Seattle was ALWAYS posting winning records and sniffing the playoffs for ten years while ALWAYS having shitty draft positioning - which on here, of course, means "JS sucks".

It astonishes me that people actually think this team is 'something special' this year. They are not. They are over achieving, yes, but they in NO Way have the horses to compete with the SF's of the league. THIS IS THE PROCESS. IT IS NOT FINISHED. MANAGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS ACCORDINGLY. This team is way ahead of schedule - next is the draft and Adams coming back, maybe even Penny. No one wants to lose any games, but complaining about the this team's trajectory as if they are a loaded squad with SB expectations this season after the trade of the century - c'mon man. They just aren't that good --- yet. No one outside this forum expected them to be - yet they have wildly exceeded expectations. Just ONE TIME it would be nice to see people actually acknowledge and appreciate this team instead of the non stop complaining. 7-5 and in the playoiff hunt - which NO ONE saw coming - a defense of mostly youths who are looking electric - even DROY award candidates - and yet complaints because they aren't elite RIGHT THIS SECOND.

I honestly don't get it. I am not smart enough to grasp how this defense - with all the turnover all across the board - was supposed to be good this year. Who ever made that claim? Seems like people need to manage expectations and take a realistic approach on roster construction and the realities that come with it. Jesus - just think about what this roster will look like next year.

Go over to Donkey Nation on SB nation and get a cold hard dose of a miserable reality we are not even close to experiencing. I think a shit load of gratitude is in order for what this team has done in the last 9 months. Arguably the greatest off season in team history - building for the future while the donkey fanbase is on suicide watch. They are fucked for the forseeable future - but seattle's future is oh so bright.Yeah, I think a shit ton of gratitude is warranted - not complaining that the defense is struggling. They're young - they're supposed to struggle.
No idea. Never seen any here or elsewhere make that claim. It is unanimous here that outside of Woolen, Nwosu and maybe Woods the defense sucks and I have always said promoting a lower level coach from the same horrid defense from last season to DC was a head scratcher.

Young guys on defense make plays all the time. No one said this team was winning a championship, and no one said this defense would be great. Aurora, you are making an argument that isn’t there. The defense should not be terrible tho, and it has bee,. Guys are flat out missing assignments, gap responsibility is an assignment. You don’t need to be a third year vet to learn that. As I said, if it requires you to be a seasoned vet to play this scheme? The scheme is over complicated.

Someone asked why the defense was so bad, and I answered. This defense has the talent to be at the very least middle of the pack, not one of the worst in the league. But, not one person in here has said the defense should be great or we should win a Championship, so you are using a Strawman there.
