Honestly Witherspoon really didn't do much there. Just a horrendous throw straight to him.
disagree. I thought the same at first, but I think Jones was actually going for the outside receiver, not the slot guy Aikman was stuck on, and 'Spoon undercut it.

Maybe there was some thought involved
The Seahawks rookie cornerback easily read the route and took the ball 97 yards the other way for the score. Witherspoon admitted after the game it was easy to decipher where Jones was going, and it helped lead to a franchise-record 11 sacks.

"We knew he liked to stare down his first target," Witherspoon told NFL Network after the game. "We were just trusting the game plan the coaches laid out for us. He had his back turned and a lot of guys were winning the one-on-one matchups up front. Without them, we couldn't make the plays that we made."

There's more to it with a tackle. I think they both will be great players
Jalen Carter has already set a high bar for expectations and I think plenty of people thought he would dominate this game after Washington gave up nine sacks last week. While he didn’t fill the box score the way people expected, he still had a hell of a game. He consistently drew double teams on passing and running downs, creating one on one opportunities for his teammates and creating free lanes for blitzing linebackers. Like a productive running back putting up 150 yards behind a dominant offensive line, it is hard to see Nicholas Morrow getting three sacks yesterday without Carter paving the way

Oh and Witherspoon was playing nickel, they wasted the fifth pick in the draft on a Nickelback
“Playing the position, if you compare it to playing corner, there’s so many more things that happen,” Carroll said in his postgame press conference. “And there’s guys on both sides of you, you’re not playing on the edge, and there’s runs and passes and blitzes and mixes of coverages and things like that, that makes it a position for a guy that can handle all of that naturally. A lot of this is natural skill and awareness that he could pick stuff up so soon and be so dynamic in there in such short order. He’s just going to get better and better. And so, it’s a really, really exciting thing to watch for us and so we’ll keep going with it.”

So much for all those who said Spoon is an undersized and overrated draft pick
Who said that? I think everybody has been pretty much on board with the Witherspoon pick.
It goes beyond this forum, but if we were to cast a spotlight there were a couple in here early on that didn't feel too excited with DW as our 5th pick. Most in this forum has been supportive of Spoon and sees his potential. However, outside of this forum there were many that believed he was too small to play this physical at his size in this league.

Also zero issues with the law and no videos flashing gang signs after he was drafted and paid millions.

I loved this pick. Many in here have bitched about the Seahawks sticking to a model. Corners have to have arms this long and look like this. Besides Sherman and to a lesser extent Woolen? How has that paid off. This dude plays fucking football. And the bitching about moving inside? Like I said this summer, why WOULDN'T we want a dude that tackles like him to be closer to the ball?

Witherspoon -- Defensive Player of the Week?

Umm, yes, I think so.

More on Carter if it's not too tiresome
For all of the talk about Carter's conditioning and work ethic, he sniffed out a screen early against the Commanders and chased it down on the back side. When Carter is not double-teamed, he sheds his blocker with ease through power. Late in the game, the No. 9 overall selection was trying out some of his other moves, including a spin move that led to the offensive lineman either accidentally or intentionally tripping him and a euro step move to get the blocker's momentum moving in the opposite direction before crossing his face for an easy pressure.

Carter was credited with five pressures, which brings his season total up to 20; eighth-most in the NFL, according to TruMedia
