Harbaugh to the Chargers.
If your a coach right now what are you looking at in choosing your next team.

1. Facilities

2. Front Office

3. Roster aka do you have a QB albeit a star QB

4. Division

Out of the 4 remaining teams who amongst them has a QB under contract through next year.

Falcons have Ridder , Washington has Howell, Carolina has Young, Seattle has Lock

Out of those 4 who has the best roster top to bottom.

DC has Howell, Robinson at RB, McLaurin & Dotson at WR, Thomas at TE

Falcons have Bijan at RB, Drake London at WR, Pitts at TE

Panthers have Chark & Thielen at WR so not really much there in terms of weapons

Now who does Seattle have.

RB - K9 & Charbonnet

WR - JSN, DK, Lockett

I'm still on the Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik, & possibly Mike Vrabel train. Is it possible if Vrabel doesn't land a head coaching spot that he could end up someone's DC. Gotta say wouldn't be a bad choice, especially for a 1st time head coach. Again not my first choice but wouldn't be mad at all if he were the pick. Definitely gotta put the heat on both Atlanta & DC.

X is a funny place. I just read a post that says the Chargers failed to lock down Jimmy boy, and he is headed back to Ann Arbor to negotiate. Scrolled a bit and read a post that says Lanning is boarding a jet to fly to Ann Arbor because Michigan is set to lock him down.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if that Jack Ass Harbaugh spent this time whoring around the NFL, all as a ploy to put the screws to his fucking Alma Matter, and walked away with no job at all!?

Sure, someone in the NFL will hire him, even if the Chargers don’t, but I wouldn’t put it past that dirt bag cheating fucker one bit to be trying to leverage the very University he played at!

By Bob Condotta
Seattle Times staff reporter
On the day Jim Harbaugh returned to the NFL — decreasing the league’s head-coach openings to four — more clarity on the Seahawks’ search for a successor to Pete Carroll was also revealed.

Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s coaching news as it impacted the Seahawks.

Dates for five interviews set
Though it had already been reported the Seahawks would have five coaches in this week for second interviews, dates for some had not been made public.

But as revealed by SI.com, Seattle has one coach per day in town for an interview this week.

Those began Tuesday with Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and continued Wednesday with Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.

The rest of the schedule: Thursday, Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn; Friday, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris; Saturday, Carolina defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

The Seahawks interviewed all five virtually last week, with in-person interviews of coaches currently employed by NFL teams now allowed until this week.

The interviews will also get the Seahawks in compliance with the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to bring in two minority candidates for in-person interviews, after which a coach can be hired at any time.

Could there be more candidates?
Yes, there could.

The reports of the five second interviews this week have indicated that Seattle’s search could broaden.

Specifically, teams seeking a coach cannot hold interviews this week with coaches of any teams remaining in the playoffs.

For now that means they cannot conduct a second interview with Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who was one of the eight coaches the Seahawks held a virtual interview with last week. Conventional wisdom holds that he remains on their list.

As of Wednesday there had yet to be any specific reports or indications that they plan to talk with Johnson next week. Washington and Atlanta reportedly hope to talk with Johnson next week.

SI.com also reported Wednesday that the Seahawks might want to talk with Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.

“It’s known in NFL circles that Seattle has an interest in Macdonald,” SI.com’s Albert Breer wrote.

The Seahawks have yet to talk with Macdonald, and because it has not done so could have to wait until after the Super Bowl to interview him.

As has been noted, NFL rules prevent any coaches who are taking part in the Super Bowl from doing initial interviews in the weeks before the game — only second interviews are permitted.

The Seahawks could have spoken to him virtually by the end of the wild-card weekend but did not.

But if the Ravens lose Sunday to Kansas City, they would be able to talk with Macdonald next week.

As of Wednesday, no other coaches than the five listed for second interviews have been reported as on Seattle’s list for a first or second interview.

And then there were four
The Chargers’ hiring of Harbaugh on Wednesday reduced the number of teams seeking a coach to four — the Seahawks, Atlanta, Carolina and Washington.

Carolina and Washington are thought to be interested in talking with Johnson and Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, meaning both appear unlikely to hire a coach before next week.

The Harbaugh hiring could impact Atlanta’s search. It had been reported that he could have interviewed in person with the Falcons on Thursday. But that won’t happen now.

And that could increase the urgency for Atlanta to get things done with Bill Belichick or Mike Vrabel.

The Falcons have interviewed Belichick twice, and they had former Tennessee coach Vrabel in for an interview Wednesday.

Vrabel was also reportedly set for an interview with Carolina on Thursday. As of Wednesday, there were no reports or indications of the Seahawks having set an interview with Vrabel.

Atlanta had Evero in for a second interview Wednesday and was scheduled to interview Houston offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik on Thursday.

This is how it needs to play out based on this article:

Belichick to the Falcons
Quinn to Washington
Harbaugh to the Chargers
Canales to the Panthers
Johnson to the Hawks

And then there were four?

Well, there could be if the Los Angeles Chargers’ pursuit of Jim Harbaugh — which was said to be intensifying Tuesday — proves successful.

If the Chargers and Harbaugh work out a deal, that would leave just the Seahawks and three other NFL teams — Atlanta, Carolina and Washington — in need of coaches.

There were seven a week ago, but since then the Las Vegas Raiders have hired Antonio Pierce, and the Tennessee Titans have reportedly hired Brian Callahan (the team had not made it official as of Tuesday evening).

If the Chargers take Harbaugh off the table, that is one fewer team Seattle is competing with in its efforts to find a successor for Pete Carroll.

Speaking of Carroll, a report Tuesday from Pro Football Talk stated that he was “making a push” for the Chargers job.

The report was the first linking Carroll with any job since it was learned two weeks ago he would not return as Seattle’s coach. And from the minute his Seattle tenure ended some pointed to the Chargers as a team he might be interested in coaching given his ties to Los Angeles, where for nine years he coached USC (2001-09).

Appearing to give some validity to the report that Carroll might be interested in the Chargers job was a quote from rapper and actor Snoop Dogg to Fox Sports in a story published Monday.

Speaking at a promotional event, Snoop Dogg was quoted as saying that he called Carroll when the Seahawks news was announced and that Carroll said he wanted to keep coaching.

“He wanted to go to the Chargers,” Snoop Dog said. “That’s what he wanted. But I don’t know if they want him.”

And indeed, as of Tuesday afternoon the PFT report was the only one mentioning Carroll’s interest in the Chargers, with all other reports during the day instead focusing on the negotiations with Harbaugh.

If those talks fall through, it could impact the Seahawks. The Chargers reportedly were interested in talking with former Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel, who has also been reported as a potential target of Seattle’s.

But as of Tuesday afternoon, there had been no reports of the Seahawks setting up an interview with Vrabel.

To get a sense of the competition the Seahawks could be up against, here’s a look at the remaining openings.

Washington Commanders
If the Chargers take Harbaugh, Washington might become the most serious competitor for a coach thought to be among those at the top of Seattle’s list — Dan Quinn.

A report from Bleacher Report on Tuesday said Quinn is set for an in-person interview with Washington on Sunday. But that’s only after Quinn reportedly will meet with the Seahawks in person Thursday.

Washington is also interested in some of other coaches also on Seattle’s list.

It was reported Tuesday that Washington hopes next week to interview both of Detroit’s coordinators — Ben Johnson (offense) and Aaron Glenn (defense) — as teams cannot conduct interviews with coaches in the playoffs this week. Seattle interviewed Johnson over the weekend. He was not on a reported list of five coaches Seattle wants for second interviews, but there is nothing to indicate he also doesn’t remain on Seattle’s radar.

Johnson has been considered as a favorite for the Washington job.

Washington is also reportedly talking this week with Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. Seattle also talked with Slowik last week, but he was not on the list of five second interviews.

Carolina Panthers
The Panthers made a major move Monday that figures to influence their coaching search in hiring Dan Morgan as their general manager.

That name might sound familiar. Morgan filled several roles in Seattle’s front office from 2010-17, including as director of pro personnel his last three years.

Morgan’s ascension to the GM job appears to be a reason another former Seahawks employee — Dave Canales — might suddenly be in the running for the head-coaching job.

A report from The Athletic said there is “momentum building for Dave Canales’ candidacy in Carolina” and noted his relationship with Morgan from their time in Seattle. Canales was an assistant with the Seahawks from 2010-22 in several offensive roles, including receivers coach and quarterback coach before becoming the offensive coordinator for Tampa Bay this season.

Though Canales has deep Seattle ties, there has been no indication he is on the Seahawks’ list.

The Panthers also remain interested in one of their own, as it was reported that defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero had a second interview Monday.

Evero is on Seattle’s reported list of five coaches it wants to interview a second time after interviewing him virtually last week.

Carolina has also talked with Quinn, but there has been no report of a second interview.

Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons’ search might have seemed done when it was revealed Friday that they had conducted a second interview with Bill Belichick. But nothing more has happened with that, and the Falcons have interviewed other coaches, some of whom are on Seattle’s list.

That includes Evero, who it was reported Atlanta wants to talk to this week, as well as Morris and Vrabel.

The Falcons confirmed via social media that Morris had completed a second interview with the team Tuesday.

That only Belichick and Morris have had second interviews with the Falcons led some to speculate Atlanta’s search is narrowing on those two.

But Atlanta also is reportedly set for an in-person interview with Vrabel on Wednesday.
Canales to the Panthers! Two down two to go!!

Belichick to the Falcons
Quinn to Washington
Harbaugh to the Chargers
