Re: Offense or Defense
Well, then at least you would have to say that Schottenheimer was outclassed by the Steelers' DC in putting together a game plan. Shouldn't he be coming up with new wrinkles too, or at least something mildly unexpected? He's being out-imagined.
Re: Offense or Defense
No, I wouldn't say that at all. I don't think you are being fair or realistic. No matter what game plan or adjustments you come up with the players still have to execute. Ifedi amd Fluker were horrible the start of that game. How is that Schottenheimer's fault?Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:11 pmWell, then at least you would have to say that Schottenheimer was outclassed by the Steelers' DC in putting together a game plan. I think you're missing the bigger picture - Seattle won the game - because Seattle made the right adjustments. had it not been for two turnovers and aSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:11 pmWell, then at least you would have to say that Schottenheimer was outclassed by the Steelers' DC in putting together a game plan. missed FG - it probably would have been much larger margin of victory. As far as new wrinkles - you need to look at the season as a whole - you do not show all your 'wrinkles' or plays early in the season. Ask yourself why. Because then there is tape every team can use on your playbook - especially your division rivals. You have to save stuff for down the road - especially in division play. lambs and Sf are legit - you cannot show them everything you have against Cinci and Pitt. You gotta save ammo for later. Winning these games with a minimum of exposure into what the offense is truly capable of - is what you should be recognizing and focusing on. There is a lot more to this offense then they're showing because ... why the F would you if you do not need to? You think New England shows you everything they have in the first two games of the season? Of course not. Let everyone prepare for a run heavy attack - there is an aerial attack coming - you can bet on it. They have the personnel and the QB. You don't win the games or the season by winning the matchups in the first half. You win them with your adjustments. Action - reaction. Pittsburgh didn't adjust to Seattle - and they lost. Seattle adjusted to Pitt, and won.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that teams holding back offensive plays thing.auroraave wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:43 pm

Still running majority of snaps in base 4-3 UNDER... 60% of the time. Wonder how much they did this in 2013?

Re: Offense or Defense
I'll still say the weakest link is currently the defense. I see it in the decision making from Pete. Back in the Legion of Boom days, Pete would have punted on fourth down and one and trusted his defense to win it with the lead in their pocket. Against the Steelers yesterday he went for it and trusted his O-line to get the push against a tired Pitt defense. That's not me saying the O-line is good or not a concern, it's me saying the trust from Pete was not to his defense.
