Thread for draft simulations:
Re: Thread for draft simulations:
Exactly why I don't like Tight ends. We have never had a productive one. And even Graham was a buzz kill relative to his prior production with the Saints.

I'm optimistic about kubiak and the type of offense he should be running, it's known for utilizing a TE. Get him a TE and I think you would enjoy it. They really do need to add one or there's no point to bringing in kubiak

New Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak heavily uses the tight end in his system. Kittle had 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns for the 49ers last year. Prior to that, lesser tight ends like Greg Dulcich in Denver and Kyle Rudolph, Irv Smith Jr., and Tyler Conklin with Minnesota had success in Kubiak's system.
Kittle had been a highly productive player with Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco before Kubiak's arrival. This system has a long track record of extremely productive tight ends dating back with Rick Dennison (also now with New Orleans), Mike Shanahan, and Gary Kubiak. Hall of Fame TE Shannon Sharpe, who spent most of his career playing for Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak, is the best example. Players like Brent Jones, Owen Daniels, and Tony Scheffler also performed well in this very same system.

Sure I am open to it. But if he is a 1st round pick he better have 1000 yards receiving.

I don't hate this idea at all at 18. I watched the vid suggesting this from a Detroit Lions fan who reports on the Hawks sometimes. Big target who likes to block, lines up all over the place and catches everything near him. Guys like Kittle and other top-drawer TE's cause huge matchup problems for teams, and I think we finally have enough draft capital to help our OL in the second and third round. I don't dislike Fant and Barner, but I think Loveland might be an instant long-term upgrade. I'm still on the fence about it but wouldn't cry if they went that way in the draft.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 4:03 pmJust saw a youtube video saying we should take Colston Loveland at 18.![]()

Re: Thread for draft simulations:
Kubiak on the topic, Loveland isn't necessarily their guy
“I think it’s such a critical position in our scheme for sure, because you’re involved in the run and pass game and protection,” Kubiak said. “I think obviously you’re looking for, No. 1, a guy that can contribute to blocking in the run game, and then a guy that can stretch the field. You’re looking, especially nowadays, (for) a guy that you can rip the seams (with) and guys that can make explosive plays in between the hashes for you, and then a guy that can go block a 265-pound defensive end. So that’s not an easy guy to find.”

With those odds MGM gives it around 37% likelihood.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 5:50 amI'd happily bet against them going offensive lineman with their first pick

I'm not sure why they grouped Edge with D line given that the Seahawks use OLBs as their edge defenders, but whatever. I would still put D line up there at 3 or 4 since their need there is for a true NT and DE depth. They have four Edges already on the roster after the signing of Lawrence.
