I wouldn’t pay either big money.

Put Reed there. Let Griffin walk. He isn’t anything special. Spend money on DEs. Period.

Carson just never ever stays healthy. Penny and his weight and injury issues, let him go after his rookie contract. Penny if it isn’t his weight it’s his broken finger, or his hammy, or his knee. I’m still pissed he got fat after getting drafted in the first round. Shows his dedication, real dedication

Deejay is just. Third string RB. No burst.

Hard decisions coming. Dunbar and Griffin both FAs. We have 34 under contract next year and 19.1 million in cap space. It can be 30 million if we cut Dunlop.

We can’t pay Diggs,Dunbar, Griffen, and Adam’s. I think there is money for 2 of 4.

Interesting times
1. I'm pretty sure Hawks are banking on Alton Robinson and Darrell Taylor. + they still have Rasheem Green and LJ Collier... Mayowa is good as gone, Irvin is gone, so is D Moore. If Dunlap comes in with his hair on fire, work with him on re-signing to a lesser contract.

2. The last 3 seasons Carson has missed just 5 total games. How is that "never stays healthy?" Is it because he missed the Dallas game last year? Cause that can really be the only reason I could see why people seem to think he hasn't stayed healthy... he's been very reliable.

3. No burst? According to what? One game? Where he scored 2 TD's and was inches away from a 3rd? He has 20 total carries in his career... I think we need to watch him a bit more before we assume he has "no burst."

4. Both have had less-than-desiarable contract years. The Hawks only have 4 draft picks in 2021... so my guess is they'll sign one and let the other walk then sign a free agent CB in the off season to play opposite.

Penny's first three games:

7 carries 8 yards 1.1 yards per
10 carries 30 3.0 yards per
3 carries 5 yards 1.7 per game

He also had these gems that year:

4 carries 11 yards
4 carries 4 yards
4 carries 6 yard

I am willing to give Dallas a few more games and more than 20 total carries before declaring him a complete bust or not as good as Penny.

Funny, Penny 20 carries in his first three games and 43 yards. DeeJay now 20 carries and 49 yards. Not good either but amazing how close they are.

Dallas isn’t a bust. He’s a fourth round pick. A solid 3rd down 3rd string RB.

He okayed solid today. Can you really see any quickness? Burst? I don’t. He’s a good receiver. Solid overall back. I want him nowhere near our lead back.

Only 3 options Imo. Sign Carson. Let Carson walk and go with Penny. Lastly go get another FA back. No thank you on the Miami duo. No thank you to Homer and Dallas as the lead backs. Depth yes for sure. Lead dogs. HELL no.

He didn't look great but our run blocking was shit for him. Never did I see a play where I saw a hole that he didn't hit. Call me crazy but I see some burst in this vid.

I was speaking of Penny his rookie year. He just looked terrible to me... although towards the end of the year he started to kinda get it.

Deejay looked tentative to me today - he didn't attack the hole, and just kinda hesitated, so the holes closed. Maybe he just didn't want to screw up, and was overly cautious, but that's not a trait of a good back, IMHO. That said, he caught a ton of passes, and helped his team win. Coming in as a rookie and being the ONLY back isn't an easy thing to do... so that's why I said he did ok.

Did Penny forget the offense twice and almost get his QB killed? After Penny did next to nothing did people come in here and say to tell Mike Davis good bye?

No, Penny stunk, Dallas stunk...the only thing Penny didn't do was blow two huge assignments. Sorry, to watch Dallas' last two games and thinks that means we should waive good bye to a former 1st round pick with an year after this left in his deal is stupid. And is exactly what I was commenting on.

Once again, when and if Penny comes back, he wont lose snaps to Dallas. Nor should he.

A ton? He caught five dump offs for 17 yards! He averaged barely over two yards a carry and barely three yards a catch! And in two games gas blown at least three assignments. The fact that we are even talking about his says all we need to know about the state of our backfield!

We light up the scoreboard today, and Dallas was on the field. That is the best thing I can say. But yeah, let's make him our third down back!? At least Homer can blitz pickup. The kid scored twice, on plays I would have scored on!
