Here's an explanation of why they are freeing up cap space.

J.T. Cut too. I am assuming a free agent roster cut, but whom.

Maybe we signed Kap 😯

Why wonder when there is a simple explanation easily available if you have online access..........
Once that trade becomes official, the Seahawks will have an open roster spot that it figures to use to sign a quarterback — which could just be Geno Smith, whose contract was officially terminated on Saturday, a day after it had been thought he had won backup job when it was learned that Paxton Lynch had been waived.

But because Smith is a vested veteran, he is not subject to waivers, meaning the Seahawks are not at risk that he would get claimed by another team. That means he instead becomes an immediate free agent and the Seahawks may just have asked him to be cut for a day and then re-sign once the trade goes through and another roster spot opens up. One source told the Times that the plan is to try to re-sign Smith to be Wilson’s backup.

Receiver is a strange situation right now. Jaron Brown being a cap casualty, Moore is injured for how long? I really like 3 remaining guys Tyler L, DK "Bigplay" Metcalf, and new Dougy doug Ursua.
I guess if JD McKissick, or Prosice make it they could run routes.

I was also a bit shocked that the guy they got from the Pats was cut, TE Jacob Hollister.
Malik Turner!!!! :)

I've been saying this. The Hawks backup QB isn't on team yet.

Well he isn't now but sounds like they are going to resign him once the trade goes through.

Nobody is worried about Haener leaving UW any more. This is like worrying about the state of Washington having a backup tallest mountain if Mt. Rainier erupts.

On a side note, the trade of the #30 pick in the third round netted us all these players.

#47 - Marquise Blair
#64 - D.K. Metcalf
#120 - Gary Jennings, Jr.
#132 - Ugochukwu Amadi
#204 - Travis Homer

They all made the final roster. Not a bad piece of drafting.
