I'd say the deal with Kubiak is a bigger distraction. So its looking like the Raiders are hiring him. The seahawks will be stuck replacing their OC again at the tail end of the hiring cycle
Not worried about that in the least. Not like we are running some Sci Fi offense. MM will get his man. He learned his lesson with Grubb.
I agree this is the big distraction - lots of candidates have been swooped up - who is left? We've seen the huge difference a coordinator can make - who are the candidates? WHat happened to Miami's coach, is he avail? He was some kind of guru, allegedly. This is ther next big decision to be made - with the candidate pool thinned out now.

Still cannot beleive Pitt went with McCarthy - jesus what a backwards move.

Yeah, the issue with Grubb was a lack of candidates wasn't it. Mike's man has to be available in the first place in order to grab him. It sounds like it be surprising for Kubiak not to get the job at this point. Seems crazy to me to go from firing Grubb after a season to losing kubiak to a head coaching job after another season.

teams always go for the 'checks boxes' and 'currently trending' candidates. Except Pittsburgh, apparently lol. I don't know if Kubiak should take on a HC role just yet, but he'll have his pick of two total dumpster fire franchises - one of which will be drafting Mendoza who, despite a stellar college career, has proven nothing yet in the NFL - but at least Kubiak will have something to work with, in theory. Zero chance he goes to Arizona. I would love another year of him with our offense but that may not be in the cards.

really surprised there isn't a bigger convo about potential replacements cause it's coming - unless it's not.

It won't be hard to get the best of the best to come OC for the SB champions. Everyone is available other than the few guys that just got hired last month. That is a huge pool. And there is no salary cap on coaches.

Here's Rob Stanton on the topic
If he does depart after the Super Bowl, it would be concerning for the Seahawks. There’s no point pretending it wouldn’t be a significant blow.

Firstly, he’d almost certainly take John Benton and Rick Dennison with him — with the prospect of others going too. You would need to find a replacement with coaching contacts, or find adequate staff replacements.

Secondly, there’s the prospect of scheme changes if you can’t find a coordinator from the same coaching tree. That isn’t a given and wouldn’t be ideal after so much success in 2025.

The Seahawks hit it out of the park last year when they had ample time to replace Ryan Grubb. They began their coordinator search as soon as the regular season ended, with multiple candidates available.

This time would be different. The coaching cycle has moved quickly and we are already starting to see how thin the offensive coordinator pool is (just ask Eagles fans). The last time they faced this kind of situation was when they had to wait for Mike Macdonald to become available after the 2023 season’s AFC Championship game. By that point, the pool of OC’s was similarly thin. They had to take a chance on Grubb and it was a disaster.

It's interesting the Eagles, they won the SB, lost their OC and have turned into a bit of a dumpster fire offense wise.

Here is Fieldgulls on it with a list but it's a little old at this point, some of them have gotten jobs now

They aren't available, you can't poach another teams coach unless it's considered a promotion

Eagles hire Sean Mannion as their OC, he's a young up and comer type hire
Mannion will become the fifth OC in six seasons for Philadelphia, whose championship-defense campaign came to a disappointing end Jan. 11 with a 23-19 loss at home to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round. Offense coordinator Kevin Patullo was fired days later

In the past 6 years they have been to 3 SBs and won 2 off them and have had FIVE OCs. Ok now I am really worried about getting a new OC. lol

This is almost as scary as the M's not wearing their Sunday Cream uniforms any more because they were 10-3 in them. There was literally a guy posting on X that was seriously upset about that. lol

Why the fuck would he go there of all places. I get people wanna get HC gigs but of all places, that's a definite no-no. Their always gonna be a doormat franchise sorry, no matter who they bring in. I'd of waited another year. No ones forcing you to leave a great situation here. How'd it work out for Bevell & Schotty in Dallas. Grass isn't always greener on the other side.
