“The thing is, if you get it there and then you score at the end, then you’re kicking to win the game. If you don’t get it there, you get an opportunity to go for two again.

If you make the two there, another TD essentially wins you the game, but missing it doesn't lose the game, you have essentially the same odds of tying the game as if you kicked the PAT in the first place, I think you are too focused on just trying to get to overtime

Yep, because losing is better than OT. Shanahan decided to go for two, up four. Missed it and now they are three from a tie, instead of a win. Stupid.
