So what does "yearly cash" mean exactly? I thought you said that his yearly cash for 2019 already included 30 mil of his signing bonus

Yearly cash is the exact amount Wilson gets paid from his contract this year. 30 mil signing bonus+ 5 mil million base salary = 35 million yearly cash.

Next year 18 mil base salary + 35 mil signing bonus = 53 mil yearly cash

Because there is no 15 mil base salary. Where are you seeing that? Wilson's signing bonus is prorated over two seasons 30 this year and 35 next year.

I could be wrong but I see it like this. They are trying to compare players from different sports and different teams. Their yardstick is to use June to June earnings.

If a player is being paid a signing bonus in two installments instead of one, do they say that the two installment player earned less? I'm guessing that they made the call that they want to count the bonuses as fully paid in their rankings. Note that I'm not necessarily advocating it, but it seems that's what they did.

a signing bonus is an incentive to sign a contract, he earned it by signing the contract didn't he, he did that at the beginning of the contract.
