Never said it was a grand scheme. As far as Sherman. Weddle said the same thing. Cam Newton is not a shirt. The analogies are getting ridiculous. You can't name another accomplished QB that signed for a deal like this.Michael K. wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 5:21 pm
That IS the market. There was no market. Not sure how this is any giant scheme by anyone. Two teams talked to him...should the Patriots have upped the bid? They didn't need to. Like I said, Sherman should be pounding on the door of his own GM telling him he will take a pay cut so they can over pay for a backup QB. No one wanted to pay for him...the NFL teams are the market...so he had no market. Once again, the market dictated his price. If someone else had jumped in and made him an offer, maybe the Patriots would have upped the price. But you are acting like they should have paid him more, even though they didn't have to.
If I am selling a product that no one wants, that is the market. No one wanted this QB. That is the market. Making it out to be some grand scheme by the NFL is silly. If another team wanted him, they would have made an offer and the price demanded by the market would have changed. When you find a shirt on sale at the store do you demand to play full price because this shirt is worth more than the price? Nope, so why should the Patriots?
If he triggers all his incentives he will make 7.5 million which is far less than some inferior QBs have made guaranteed this year.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 6:24 pmHow much can he make if he triggers all the bonuses in the incentive clauses?
I think the opportunity to enhance his value for 2021 was also a big part of why he signed with N.E..
Best answer so farSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 6:43 pmMaybe he just wants to win a championship that badly.
AT the time there was still the draft and Dak, Rivers, Tannehill, Brady, Brees, Kaepernik, Bridgewater, Winston, to name a fewThePro wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 4:59 amHanjag wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 2:30 amhttps://www.profootballrumors.com/2020/ ... cam-newton

You predicted the team that lost an MVP QB and had Brian Hoyer and Jason Stidham as the only QBs on their roster would sign the best FA QB available? Way to go out on limb.
Then why are you rejecting everyone else's theories? If you do not believe the market is dictating his value - what specifically are you suggesting is? You cannot logically reject a theory - for no reason at all - without having one to replace it with.
Only one of those QBs were available when Patriots signed Cam .
